The talk of Larry being absent in some recent get togethers is also telling IMO.

U2 have taken more risks in their 40 year career than any other band in history, most bands from their era have stopped releasing new music and just trade on their past glories and as for Coldplay they are churning out generic pop for the masses do they need a drummer ,guitarist and bassist anymore ?

    So wrong
  6. I’ve been a huge Coldplay fan, mainly their older stuff. But after hearing higher power once and this teaser, i don’t think I’ll enjoy this one. Everyday life album was fresh and bold but this doesn’t feel that way.
  7. Yep. Everyday Life was a short burst of niceness among the big amount of crap they've produced in the last decade.
  8. Opinions vary…

I have liked essentially every Coldplay album up until Everyday Life…I think it’s a pretty boring and uninspired. Flags was a solid, middle of the fairway Coldplay tune and somehow it didn’t even make the cut amongst a double album of what sounded like half finished b-sides. But I do give the band credit for trying to make something different.

Early returns on this new album have me on the fence; Higher Power is pretty forgettable pop and the Max Martin influence can be a very mixed bag, but some of these snippets tease a few interesting sounds. I’m excited to at least hear it out.
  9. I found Everyday Life more refreshing, apart from the song 'Orphans' which was too poppy for that album. From what I've heard from clips of the new album however, I have one question. Where are the band? Is it now just Chris Martin and some pro tools? It's hard to believe this is the same band who did Parachutes. Sure, bands evolve but they've been stuck since 2011.

    100% true
  11. Do they have any songs in the same darker mood like Violet Hill? It's the only song I've heard and really enjoyed. Not a fan of their poppy happy confetti style. Clocks and Speed Of Sound are okay ( to me they sound kinda similar), but I would like to discover their darker side... if there's any
