They should be looking at improving the other stuff anyway but 3 gigs at £60 physical and digital (with the option of £30 digital only subscription) is better value than 1 gig at £30 physically with no option.

I'm expecting a non-music year again soon. I wouldn't be surprised if it's this one coming. 2014 and 2016 were both non-music years, and both years leading into a new album release. (Songs of Innocence came out in 2015, Songs of Experience in 2017.)

That’ll be a nice way for them to disappoint the fans again. Wasn’t the serigraphs the only year they didn’t have a music gift lately though? I know they also had the long delays so we weren’t really getting 1 gift per year at one stage.
  4. In 2014 it was a book, North Side Story. Announced on November 14, and started arriving with subscribers in January. In 2016 it was the lithographs. Those were announced late (January 30 of the next year) and started showing up in June. It's not the latest they've ever been in announcing things. in 2009 they announced the gift at the end of February ("Medium Rare and Remastered), In 2017 the gift wasn't announced until May (Joshua Tree singles) and in 2018 the gift wasn't announced until April (3-D Dance Mixes). So a late announcement doesn't mean they don't have a music option.

Another Time Another Place had come out on vinyl the year before the serigraphs. About 11 months before.

There's been a gift for each subscriber year since they started this in 2006. Looking at the gifts to date 33% of them have started showing up before the end of the prior year, 47% arrive in the first half of the subscription year, 20% show up in the back half of the subscription year. But 2/3 of them show up in the year you are subscribed for. They have never missed a gift. The latest one has arrived was the 2017 gift (The Joshua Tree Singles) which started showing up in December of the year people were subscribed for but they warned about that when it was announced, as they had to record the tracks they would be using. (I use the date the first copy shows up, it does usually take 3-6 months to get these out worldwide. Although the Apollo started showing up in August, they are still arriving with subscribers.
  5. I read all that and I’m with you now but wasn’t there a time then when because of the delays in the announcement people were basically having to pick the same gift option as the year before? I know they’ve sometimes said just to email them and let them know they want the new gift instead once it’s announced but that wasn’t always the case was it? There shipping of ‘gifts’ is a joke anyway regardless if it’s in the same year as the subscription they have regularly announced the wrong dates the gift will start shipping. Although I’ll give them their due with Berlin and Apollo gifts for most people they’ve done well to get them shipped out in good time.

They've extended subscriptions on a couple of occasions so they'd have extra time to announce a gift. Sometimes they've asked people to subscribe and they sort it out later. Other times they ask people hold off and do it later, thus the extensions.

And yes, there's many people who have had issues with gifts, shipment of gifts and everything else, but if you keep at them you can usually get the proper gift, but only while the gift is available. That's the frustrating part. If you move, and you fill out the address form with the new address, your gift is still going to the wrong address unless you write them.

Happened with me with the Berlin DVD. My subscription ended before a new gift was announced. I was told to resub while I could at the lower price, and to contact them when the new gift was announced. I did. I got the proper gift.

Interesting comment that has me wondering then what it would be. Hopefully not another set of lithographs - the last lot remain unopened and in storage. There's nowhere suitable in the house to hang them and getting approval from the wife is unlikely. She'll indulge me travelling to see shows but hanging pictures of Bono and the lads on our wall is a bridge too far.

My wife’s the same way. Have a picture frame my sister got for me back in 2005 for my 19th birthday with a picture from the Joshua tree album. It’s currently on the floor in my closet since my wife also won’t let me hang it up in the house
  9. We need a man-cave where we can hang our mementoes and memorabilia; and play our U2 music as loud as we like
  10. I have to listen to I Will Follow in private because I “overplay” it.
