1. He’s joking hahahahah
  2. If he is joking I’m still waiting for the punch line, unless that’s what modern day patter is
  3. 1 star. I’ve desperately tried to find anything redeemable but I can’t. I hate this song. I wasn’t a fan of SOE when it was released, and dislike it even more now. I hope the next LP is way different than this and SOE.

whats this video you speak of? an old birthday? Or his recent 60th?
  5. 2 stars
  6. Great song. 4,5 Stars What a voice!!!
  7. yuck!

this shows how different u2 fans are

from those that love acrobat and exit to those that love this - oh boy!

please stop making music if this is the future

here's a sneak preview of their new greatest hits album

    where the streets are mundane
pride (in the name of love stop making crap music)
    stay (away from the studio)
    magnificent (oh the irony)
no good lines on the horizon
sometimes you can't make a good record on your own (so you hire some transient pop producer)
    gone (the irony)
    one (featuring olaf from frozen)
bono covering let it go from frozen - some weird frozen shit going on here i admit
    invisible (where u2's credibility is)
  8. Hot take: Your Song Saved My Life is better than half of ATYCLB (looking at you, Peace On Earth, Grace, Wild Honey, New York...and Walk On).

So you’re admitting to having poor taste? I really like the song but it’s not better than half of ATYCLB imo, particularly New York and Walk On since you listed them. The other 3 I’ll give you, and I’d add in a little while and elevation but that isn’t quite half of the album.

Haha. So we at least agree on a few of them!

In all seriousness, U2 have been writing schmaltzy stuff like this since 2000. I can totally understand people disliking this new song but not so much if they rate ATYCLB as one of their better albums. Honestly, what is the difference between a song like Your Song Saved My Life and Peace On Earth? Both nothing too special musically speaking, and lyrically a mix of sentimentalism plus some pretty hard-hitting stuff when you really listen in.

Maybe I'm just stirring the pot but would love to hear other thoughts.

Nah I think you make a fair points. Honestly I rate your song saved my life as an 8/10 song which probably puts it in the middle to top half of the pack. I still can’t understand some of the criticism it received. Part of what makes U2 great to me is having songs like Zoo station and Miracle Drug in the same show. They can still get it wrong sometimes but for me they wrote a cracking, meaningful, piano based tune with Your song saved my life. I think if they wrote a terrible song that happened to have some heavy guitar in it there would be some fans claiming they loved it just because it was heavier musically.
