1. whatever we think of their albums and others, U2 will always be amazing when they play live, I give them more than 3 tours if there is no covid

The thing is, it's naive to think Covid won't be a factor next year. We could be in a position where things are AS BAD as they are now, or WORSE. That's why I don't agree with the notion of kicking the can down the road. There will undoubtedly be another Covid wave next winter that shuts down half of Europe, and that unfortunately is when tickets would have to go on sale for a spring/summer 2023 tour.
I’ve been hounding my usual sources about tours.

In 2019 I was told the band wanted to take a couple of years off and would tour again on the back of a new album.

At no point during COVID have I heard that they have made any plans to tour or even make an appearance anywhere. If anything it’s convinced them not to plan such things. Staff did not get any heads up about any plans, no one was asked to start making plans etc. If there was any discussion it didn’t go far.

Adam last year said he felt it was too early for anyone to look at touring. That they wouldn’t plan until things were more stable and quoted struggles that various acts have had when planning shows. (Rolling Stones, Phil Collins etc.)

Personally based on what I was told, I think they got lucky, and had planned a few years of downtime just as they would have been forced to take a few years of downtime. I think whatever they are looking at for 2023 is still in the original timeframe.

I don’t think it’s a definite that Covid will be as bad or worse again. That’s fear mongering, it may happen but don’t say it will.
  4. A world tour will definitely not happen in 2023. They might be able to do a few shows in NA and EU though.

It's not fear mongering at all... I'm just following the situation to it's next logical outcome. There is simply no reason to believe the situation will be any better next winter. There will be another variant, another wave of cases, a new vaccine we have to get, and another wave of restrictions and cancellations.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in Europe this summer, as far as tours and festivals go. They could play the US right now, as several acts are. Australia/NZ and Asia are likely years away from having large concerts from International artists.
  6. As much as i would Love to see something Like ZooTV Re Broadcast tour… i dont think we Will … maybe the AB full album is more realistic but on the other hand I think it is no coincidence they played so much stuff from AB at the end of EI tour … there even was MacPhisto … like if they wanted to say look we have already done something very close to Zoo/AB anniversary … PopMart30 on the other hand just kiddin

Let’s hope touring on large scale comes back… now it’s still like “being” lucky between another COVID waves and we all do not want to plan or schedules around something as unstable as now
  7. Covid will never go away, so we had all better get used to it and not run away and hide if something bad happens with it

It’s next logical outcome is an endemic phase, come on man. No one really knows exactly what will happen obviously but logically it looks like with Omnicron being the dominant strain spells good news for everyone.

"Living with the virus" can have 2 meanings.
    1. Go back to life as normal, 2019, and accept Covid as a part of life
    2. Implementing and removing various Covid restrictions as needed based on the rise and fall of case numbers and new variants, for who knows how long.

I think we need to go with option #1. But option #2 definitely seems like the more likely route, especially outside of the US. Bands like U2 will have to schedule their tours with the understanding that the rug can be pulled out from under them at any moment. I imagine most concert tours will occur outside of the winter months, when cases are known to be higher.

I hope you are right and I am wrong. But I just can't help but think we've got at least one more big wave next winter based on a new variant.
  11. No problem this summer.

U2 won't be touring this year anyway.
