  3. My honest review of last nights performance. I've now watched it twice. Once when it was live, and the second time this morning.

    The show was good. Probably my joint favourite alongside U2's performance in 2002. There are now no other artists in the world that I would stay up late to watch perform live at the SuperBowl because they've all performed there now.

    However, there are a few things that could have gone better. Firstly, I thought the sound mix was fairly poor. I was hoping that it was just an issue with the stream SKY Sports were using, but I watched the YouTube version from the NFL channel this morning and it had the same issues.

    Secondly, I thought the transition into "In Da Club" could have done without the brief gap halfway through the songs intro. It also didn't help that 50 fluffed a few of his lines.

    Thirdly, I'm surprised that Em only performed one song, and was also surprised at the amount of time that Mary J Blige was given. I thought Em would have done at least 2 songs, and Mary would have done the hook for "Family Affair" and that's it.

    Finally, I think Kendrick would have been off better opening the show with "Humble" which then segues into "The Next Episode". Having said all this, I still thoroughly enjoyed it and would give it an 8/10. It's a shame the internet is full of spoilers, because if I didn't know that 50 was there already, I would have lost my shit whilst watching it live.

  10. Great list..I also appreciate the large list of hip-hop and R and B artists and acts who U2 and Bono have worked with over the years
  11. Not a genre I've embraced but I acknowledge it's as big and as important to others as U2 is to me, so all respect to them. I will add that I once saw a YT clip deconstructing and analysing one of Eminem's songs in the same way we all studied poetry at school and I was genuinely impressed at the lyrical and sonic mechanics behind it. I came to appreciate that there's a lot more to the technique than just matching words that rhyme.
