1. Just thinking out loud. I wonder if the idea to re-record older songs is connected to to the recent rash of catalog sales. I am aware that U2 have not publicly announced any sales. I think a connection is there.

Edge's solo starts around 6:20 when they start fiddling around and Bono asks "solo over the chorus". It's far from being a "very good solo" like Juandi suggested, but it's a nice take.

My favorite part of this rehearsal is Bono saying that Edge's guitar was too distorted for the first chorus (he was right!) and asking for something more subtle. Correcting the "tone master" on the spot

We're extremely off topic now, but there's a limit to how much one can guess about an album that hasn't been announced

Thank you very very much for the link.
  3. yes, thank you.

I was able to cross reference, to confirm this was from a Notre Dame Oct 9 2001 rehearsal

That's an interesting idea..there have been several articles over the past few years addressing that trend. Covid/lack of touring to tax benefits, and other reasons come into play. I still wonder what they're obligated to do under contract, album and tour-wise. Selling their catalog would really take the name "Songs of Surrender" to a whole new level 🤣
  6. Was the rumor about the book? Or is the album still happening?
  7. The album goes with the book I guess. The chapters are named after songs so we can expect those songs on the album.

Didn't U2songs share some release date for Songs of Surrender for the 1st of something?

That would be cool, that would mean 40 songs on the album

Or they will shorten it to 11 or 20 songs.

It’ll be out around the same time. And yes the projects are related but not being released together.
  10. will the album include new music?
  11. Reportedly, this SOS album will be just old tracks re-recorded with different arrangements.
