  2. @LikeASong:
How did you like your first Stones concert?
  3. Ive still never seen the Stones!
  4. I liked it quite a lot They were the right amount of loose, but the right amount of tight as well. Everything was good. Even Keith played better than usual, lol. Mick is a beast and I just CAN'T fathom how someone who's blowing 80 candles next year can move and act like that. Really enjoyable. Even diehard fans over at IORR reckon they sound tight and the setlist was pretty good.

BUT they're not the biggest/best band in the world, not even close to me. They put on a great show and their catalogue is incredible, for sure, but they lack the emotion of U2 or Queen anthems, the mammoth unpredictable setlists of Bruce Springsteen or Pearl Jam and the musical skills of Muse or Rush, just to name a few. I've been to 348 concerts in my life and the Stones' one wouldn't even rank among the 30 best I've seen.

I'm still grateful for the chance of seeing them, and don't regret going. I got distant seats in the Lucky Dip but a friend -for whom I had bought Lucky Dip tix too- decided to swap their Diamond Pit tickets for my seats, so I went to Diamond Pit B super happy. And when I got there, a friend of mine (and the bass player of my old band) was checking the wristbands that gave access to Pit A, so we ended up pretty close to the action. All for 56€ haha.

    what's your #1 and #2 out of those 348?
  6. Top5 is probably this:

    U2 - 2018-11-10 Dublin
    Muse - 2015-03-15 Belfast
    Coldplay - 2012-05-20 Madrid
    U2 - 2010-09-26 San Sebastian
    Glen Hansard - 2013-02-13 Madrid
  7. Thank's for sharing your impressions, LikeASong.
"The lack of emotions" you're talking about - I get what you mean, I sort of feel the same. Jagger is playing a role, I think. He does it incredibly well and I enjoy Stones concerts a lot (will see four this year) and Hyde Park 2013 is among my Top Five concerts of all time. But rarely it is an emotional affair. There are exceptions, e.g. Jagger singing Worried About You in Düsseldorf in 2014 - that felt like coming from the heart.
Very often, Keith's set is the emotional highlight for me at the Stones' shows.
Or, in general, Charlie Watts' performances and his introduction.

I expect to get emotional next Monday in Amsterdam when the intro/ hommage to Charlie starts and then seeing the band, as Charlies death hit me hard last year, also thinking that my days of seeing the Stones live were over.

Honestly, I am glad they continue and will enjoy every minute of the concerts this year, even trying to avoid the toilet break.

  8. Wow thats a lot of shows! Also counting the support acts or not? Do you have a setlist.fm account?
  9. Yes I do, that's the only way I can keep track haha: https://www.setlist.fm/user/Sergio_santos

I started pretty young seeing Alan Parsons at 7 years old and Santana at 9 lol. Regarding festivals I only count the shows I was proactively seeing and witnessed in full, not the ones I passed by or saw just a few songs while waiting for another act or moving between stages.
