Mick could be cleared to go by the next gig in Bern this Friday, but then Keith could test positive. Or Ronnie. Or the keyboard play etc etc.
Backup for Keith or Ronnie? That's...not going to work. So if U2 tours next year or whatever, just get Dallas to sit in for Edge if something similar happens? That's the risk bands are taking trying to tour at the moment 🤷‍♂️

That’s why I don’t think U2 will tour next year.

If you’re like the Stones and you have a touring band of 10+, there’s a good chance somebody is going to test positive at any point. I agree that the Stones probably wouldn’t play a show without Keith or Ronnie. But if the bassist or the drummer or the keyboard player test positive? What then? Do they have a replacement come in, or keep rescheduling shows until finally they come to a moment where nobody will test positive?
  3. Really? I thought that was like rule #1 in Europe. (shrugs)

I really hope he will be alright. I know he's very healthy for a 78 year old, but he is 78 nonetheless. I would imagine that their next scheduled show in Bern would probably also be postponed, depending on the severity of his illness and the required quarantine time (not sure what that even is). My guess is that everything is good to go with Mick by the time they reach Milan next week.

  4. Man, I wish I had kept a tally of how many shows I've seen over the years. I saw my first gig when the 80s was 5 days old, so there's been a few but while I can remember most of the international acts, there are too many local gigs lost in the memories.
  5. You know when they do an election poll and they say it is accurrate to about 3 to 4 %? I'm like that with concerts. There are a few that I don't have stubs for but it is mostly accurate. There are five acts I have seen more than 10 times.
  6. The Stones released their last studio album, “A Bigger Bang,” in September 2005 that's 17 years ago folks I wonder are U2 thinking of taking a similar path and just touring off the back of the old reliables, they threw everything at the last 2 albums with huge multi million pounds PR and promotion and using the hottest producers without really making a big dent on streaming sites or radio 📻, I do understand why they are going down the road of re recording their old songs for the next release as let's face if they released an album as good as Achtung baby or Joshua Tree now they wouldn't make a big impact on the music industry due to the same obstacles bands of their era face when they release new music which largely gets ignored except by the hardcore fanbase.
  7. I think the Covid break has been enough to warrant a recharge and at least think about new material without the pressures of touring. We will see in November.
