1. AT853 mics are looking for a new home...
  2. Those are good mics.

    Which caps? Cards?
  3. It's the SP-CMC-4U Cardioid stereo microphones with rotating clips and windscreens and a SP-SPSB-10 battery-box
  4. These are my favorite stealth(ish) microphones from the ones I've tried. I miss the pair with hypercards that one of my dogs destroyed years ago
  5. They're very good mid-range mics. You'd have to start dropping thousands of dollars (going up to the Schoeps/Nuemann/etc. rigs) to get a significant quality increase in my opinion. I've got a pair with the switchable subcard/card/hyper caps, although I tend to use my omni mics more since I'm usually mixing with a wireless source.

Yes. AKGs are the only ones that kinda fall in the middle price range but I'm not a big fan and they're not as stealth friendly as AT853/943s. I'm planning to get my pair repaired some time, but it's hard to find someone who knows what they're doing and for a small price.

EDIT. Just remembered about the tiny DPA, I think they were the 4060 or 4061. New they were around 600 bucks a pair so they also fall in the middle between AT and the über expensive Neumann / Schoeps family. There are some brilliant U2 bootlegs recorded with these DPAs.

4060/4061 are same, just different sensitivity. Those are excellent mics (I have the countryman B3, which are basically knock-offs), although not as forgiving if you're in a less than optimal spot.
  8. I was very optimistic last night at the 3Arena - Dublin, to see The Script, forgot to get a recording device so used my phone instead as you know phones can distort alot so I wasnt expecting an ok recording but I was very pleased with the result.
  9. Phones in general have gotten better with that, as long as you're not in area with heavy bass. High spl from Kick drums just kill phones.
  10. Any tips for recording a show with your phone?
