1. Really? Doesn't sound like it. I mean, it's a very standard drum pattern, I can't see why'd they sample it.

    For reference:

  2. Love like a screaming flover love dying every hour.
  3. Maybe Depeche Mode sampled it because they did not have a drummer in 1993?
  4. I guess if Flood had the drum loop on tape, it's easier just to use that and slow it down rather than record it again.
  5. So Cruel uses a (larry) drum loop throughout the song, with Larry gradually coming in and playing on top of that. Adam's Bass is gated through Larry's Toms which gives it that wobbly Dub sound. Quite inventive actually.

Flood went on to work on SOFAD straight after Achtung Baby, so it makes sense that he was able to use the sample. Never knew that a DM song had a U2 drum track
  6. That's why DM covered So Cruel in the AB 20th CD with covered songs
  7. I just came across this (now-deleted) video. I checked to see if it was on archive.org; the page survives, but the video was not properly archived. Has anyone here seen this video before its removal? If so, was it legit, or just clickbait? It claims to be So Cruel live from Foxboro.
  8. Only videos of that performance I've ever seen are audio only.. still on YouTube

    Hi,

For those wondering : I made the instrumental part of the song in Paulo Vetri’s video.

A few month before he uploaded the video he contacted me and asked me if I could do something for this special event as I’m specialised in covering U2.

I extracted Bono’s voice from it’s acoustic version. Paulo extracted the studio version vocals and then put the whole thing with my instrumental interpretation.

For the instrumental part I tried to recreate Edge’s part from the only complete live rehearsal available on YT.

    Gear used is :
    Guitar : Les Paul Custom
    Bass : Squier Jazz Bass
    Drums : Superior Drummer 3
    Strings : session strings 2
    Piano : EZKEYS

You’ll find different upload of this particular cover on my channel (without guitar, bass, drums or vocals) :
    youtube.com/@U2coverGDC

BTW Paulo also used my own instrumentals for Wild Horses and One in it’s anniversary video.

    Cheers,

    GDC
