For all of the Larry fans out there who don't want to see U2 without their founding member than don't go to Vegas.

Same for peope complaining, or just not that into, hearing all of Achtung Baby live. If this isn't your thing than don't go to the Vegas shows and ruin them with your negativity.

Tired of all of the negativity around here. U2 is playing all of Achtung Baby, without Larry on drums, at the Sphere in Vegas for a run of residency shows. We should be thankful that U2 are still able to play for us fans in this uncertain day and age.

We aren't showing up for the Faux U2 cash grab in the drought ridden eco disaster of a city. That's why there are plenty of seats available. But I have thoughts about the band and those who are supporting the 1% debasement of AB
  2. Last of the rock stars, indeed. I never thought I'd see the day when U2 acted like dinosaurs and played a glitzy Vegas residency for aging Americans of means without one of the founding four.

It's like they want to be completely irrelevant and lame. Could you imagine John Lennon signing off on this? The Clash? If Kurt had lived, how would you feel about a Nirvana Vegas residency where they played Nevermind in its entirety every night to people with American Express cards? I thought Bono had read the Elvis biography? Vegas is where art goes to die.

Yes, I know this post is really negative. But it hurts me that they're doing this. And before anyone says "they don't owe you anything" I would say they f-ing do! I've given them my time, attention, and thousands of dollars since the 1980s. To me, this is a betrayal.

Of course, it's possible that by December they'll be paying us to fill the empty seats.

    Is this rock and roll?

U2 fans tend to whine..... a lot. I have noticed this over the years. Some people are envious/mad because they can't attend this run of shows, so the natural response is to criticize everyone and everything. Humans can be so petty and spiteful when they feel left out of something, or that someone is getting something that they are not getting. That's how 4 year olds act, and unfortunately that behavior doesn't necessarily end with childhood. U2 fans have not experienced the loss of a band member either, so LMJ being out for this Vegas residency has prompted more than a few "It's not U2 without Larry" comments, as well as silly conspiracy theories. He's out because his neck and shoulder are wrecked to the point where surgery was required, but that's too boring of a reason so lets bring on the conspiracy theories. I'm sure that more than a few people said the same crap when Keith Moon died, and we all know how that turned out. Sorry, but if you are a drummer and your name isn't John Bohnam, you can be easily replaced. The Rolling Stones replaced Charlie Watts ffs.

I don't take anything for granted when it comes to bands with older members. Each tour might be their last for any one of a number of reasons, and I'm just grateful that I have another opportunity to see them. Bono is 63, and many of the songs he sings are physically/vocally demanding. I don't see him strutting around on stage in his 70's belting out Angel Of Harlem. I'll go now while I still can even if it's not super convenient.

I understand where you're coming from and am critical of some aspects of this show, too. But I think for the band they are looking at this as the most "relevant" thing they could possibly do - being the openers for the next big thing in terms of live entertainment, as they see it.

Also don't think the comparison with Nirvana works...totally different kind of ethos as a band from U2 in their rejection of fame. For the Clash, sure U2 was inspired by punk rock bands musically but their desire to be live music innovators on the biggest possible scale is very different, too.

As for Elvis and Vegas...Bono has fully noted that connection already in the Zane Lowe interview so they aren't shying away from that. As Edge noted once, too: "right in the middle of a contradiction - that's the place to be." They've been living that tension since the beginning.

I am neither envious nor mad that I will not be going to Vegas. I don't feel left out of anything. I just feel turned off by everything about this non-tour. That doesn't make me (or others who are upset) a whiney four year old.

Do you know Larry personally? How can you be sure there's not more to the story?

Finally, I completely disagree that Larry can be "easily replaced." Not for me he can't.

I always felt in general over their career they made the right decisions as regards their musical direction and ground breaking tours but since Paul McGuinness stepped down things seemed to have changed for the worst
*SOI ITunes release( should have been optional.)
    *JT tour (Glorify the Past)
*I&E and E&I tours basically identical ignored Eastern Europe and Aus/NZ and only played select cities in Europe and US and charged exorbitant tickets prices especially on the E&I tour.
*SOS smacks of desperation and of trying to rewrite their past something 80s/90s U2 would never have given a 2nd thought to .
*Vegas residency again something they'd never consider doing over the years and particularly without LMJ,another nostalgia run of gigs to try and relive past glories.
They seriously need to move on and stop looking back so much Bono even admitted that in the recent interview he did with Zane Lowe, Ok compared to a lot of their peers they are a lot more progressive as they've put out new material up to 2017 whereas other bands gave up doing that a long time ago ,I've no problem with the record company releasing deluxe boxsets of unreleased and live material but the band themselves seems stuck at a crossroad and unsure which way they should move forward creatively.
  7. I'm actually content with the idea of them celebrating AB, and JT before it. These are my two favorite albums, and I for one think it's great that these are played and given some attention. Given the mixed bag that SoI and SoE were, I'm all for celebrating the past regarding these two albums. Gets them playing in front of people again after covid and hopefully revs up the creative juices for whatever the next album will be. Don't understand how the band is stuck at a creative crossroads...? They're doing what they want to at the moment, with oe without a disgruntled and/or injured Larry. I'd prefer him to be present in Vegas, but who knows what the future holds with him. He's not exactly keen on keeping his fans or supporters at ease or updated

The constant glorifying the past the Vegas residency sums up everything that is wrong with them celebrating an album/tour that is 30 years old their last tour which was JT down under was celebrating another album that was 30 odd years old ,they haven't put a new album since 2017 and that was 2 years old at that point as it was recorded mainly with SOI ,I think they are either buying time in the hope that Larry returns or else they've accepted that they are a heritage act and feel glorifying the past is more financially lucrative than moving forward with new material ,it certainly feels that way at the moment.
  9. Meh. Celebrating their two biggest albums works for me, and doesn't constitute them turning into a heritage act, but everyone's entitled to their opinion.. I think those two albums deserve that recognition. They put out SoI and SoE, and they're working on another album. If anyone is expecting a new U2 album every two years, I have some disappointing news- it's rarely happened and probably won't again.. I'm content with what they're doing and planning, and I respect the opinions of those who aren't. Regarding Larry and his future plans, there are too many conspiracy theories brewing to even merit any comment. He's definitely content not to calm any speculation, and the rest of the band have said what they're going to say.

  11. Just received email about Limited view from P1 seats. This is not acceptable after booking the tickets 6 weeks ago (Hotel and Tickets). Options are to transfer to a December show. I can not do this as i have booked flights from the Uk at £2000 and train transfers and hotel at Gatwick at £500. Has anyone had the same email, and is there anything that can be done.
