I like lots of music besides U2. I grew up with them in songs that mirror where I was around the same time. Music is a reminder of what was happening in my life when I heard that music. I used to think music was interpretive to what each person drew from it but now I'm aware of how that can change. I'm thoroughly satisfied that U2 has made a mark for myself and many other like minded people. U2 and R.E.M are like the Rolling Stones and The Beatles respectively for me, and I'm glad that all of the above acts can stand on their own merit.
