Tour: Joshua Tree Tour 2017
Songs played: 20
Audio recordings: 0
  1. I'm not sure if bono has taken singing lessons before but.he could do with some help.as he gets older. All the components are there but he just seems a bit wild at times. Like his vocals get away with him. It sounds more like a technique problem than anything. Just lacking a bit of control.

  2. Most people who go to Bonnaroo aren't from Tennessee though.
  3. That Exit backdrop video will need changing before UK. Maybe a Theresa May reshuffle

I felt this version to be much more powerful because everything gets a chance to really sink in.

It was definitely one of the highlights for me in Chicago last week, but when I saw them in Chicago eight years ago on 360 it was THE highlight...Being the encore opener, Bono's laser jacket, the steering wheel mic, the higher octave on the second verse, just the overall "overflowing with passion", as you said.

I do agree, though, that the version this tour, while more similar to 360 than Zoo TV, probably does fit the mood on the album version more. And I love the way they're making it a tribute to women.

Just cool any way they do it that they're playing incredible deep cuts like this even at festivals like Bonnaroo!
  5. Really thought they would have shaken the set list up for Bonaroo ok the bulk of the audience will only see the tour once but having such a massive back catalogue they can call on so many other songs especially from recent albums that would go down well ,throwing a 30 year old album and then a bunch of songs the youngest been 13 years old is not a good way to show a young audience that your not a bunch of has beings relying on songs from the dark ages.I get the impression is that u2 have hit a brick wall creatively and maybe have decided to wind things down and just live off the past like 90% of 80s,90s bands are doing,GnR,Simple minds,Stone Roses,Def Leppard, etc .But I hope I'm wrong.
  6. Haha, if they wouldn't have played the full TJT the backlash would have been even worse

I don't think you can accuse u2 of living off the past when you consider they always play songs from the new album when they release one. Ok at this particular moment it's a journey back 30 years but when they do release a new album there's no doubt they'll play 6 or 7 songs a night minimum on the tour to support it which could hardly be considered living off the past.
  8. I wish they'd save Pride / Bad /40 for the encore
    Pride so soon is weird

Touring TJT is a major u turn for the band they sound completely unsure as to when SOE will be out the bs spin that it was delayed because Trump was elected is just ridiculous, again the newest song they played in Bonaroo was 13 years old for a band that for so long didn't glorify the past they are now embracing it and milking it for every last cent with the tour and the various box sets with piss poor remixes designed to entice the old loyal fans into shelling out a fortune once again.Since Paul McGuinness left they seem like a rudderless ship ,The Apple fiasco would never have happened it would have been a redeemable code only ,Soe would be out now ,TJT tour would never have happened as it appears that's it some sort of contractual commitment as they failed to release SOE last year and tour on the back of it.Whoever is calling the shots and I assume it's Oseary needs to step aside ASAP as he is guiding them into a lot of dead ends .

Have you seen any of the shows on this current JT tour? I saw them in Chicago last week and it was fantastic.

Playing the entire album from start to finish every night, especially when some songs from the second half have either not been played, rarely played, or never played in 30 years is not exactly milking the past for money's sake, especially when they could just be doing a "greatest hits" tour.

Agree 100% with this...if McGuinness was still in charge this tour never would have transpired and SOE would have been out by the end of 2016....

I will be in Miami tomorrow , and Tampa on Wednesday , so Im one of the old geezers the band targeted here , and thats fine cause I will have a blast and have great sets to both gigs . That being said , I just wish they wouldn't have played a tune past R&H....just the big 80's songs if we are doing a nostalgia show , go full on with it
