1. Alright, I think I can KIND OF rate Pop in order:

    1. Mofo
    2. Please
    3. Discothèque
    4. Wake Up Dead Man
    5. Do You Feel Loved
    6. If God Will Send His Angels
    7. Staring At the Sun
    8. If You Wear That Velvet Dress
    9. Last Night On Earth
    10. Gone
    11. Miami
    12. The Playboy Mansion

The top four are among my all-time top U2 songs, but I love each and every track on this album madly. I liked it a lot on my first listen at age 14, and it has remained one of my top five albums pretty much since my second listen through. Right now it's #3 (behind AB and SOI), and I don't think it's gonna get knocked out of that slot unless SOE is really, really incredible. Honestly, of late, I've been reevaluating my album ranking and Pop has been creeping ever-closer to the #2 spot with AB... I'm almost at the point where I can't really chose between the two.
  2. My order could be different if live versions were taken into account but based on album only I'd go for

    1. Gone
    2. Last Night on earth
    3. Staring at the sun
    4. Discotheque
    5. Please
    6. Do You Feel Loved
    7. If You wear That Velvet Dress
    8. If God will Send His Angels
    9. Mofo
    10.Wake Up Dead Man
    11. Miami
    12. The Playboy Mansion

  3. Just shows my age...taped it on VHS when aired on U.K. tv in July 1997 then followed by the 4 songs from Rotterdam.
  4. I remember commercials for A Year In Pop started in ABC during New Year's celebration in 1997. It was part of the "attractions" of ABC for the year. It flopped terribly.
  5. Currently watching Popmart live from Chicago, night one. The whole show is on Youtube. I have a couple of the boots on VHS, one from the first night and another from the 3rd. Great string of shows, probably the best from that first leg. Bono always refers to those shows when they stop in Chicago. Before Moment of Surrender at Soldier Field in 2011 is a great example. Talks about how the tour was a flop in the US essentially and the album didnt sell well, but Chicago was the only city at the time to sell out an entire 3 shows (because some shows were literally half empty) and Chicago's spirit is what they needed at that time. Pretty cool stuff, pretty cool shows.
  6. Another great POP doc in 5 parts...

  7. My memory a month long add that did little to mentioned u2...showed the cast of home improvement in 3d glasses with some popmart visuals. The show was cool still have my vhs
  8. And this one

  9. it was aired on Czech TV in August 1997, I taped it on VHS. I'm suprised it was slightly different to version which is available on Youtube - no band in Las Vegas casino at the beginning, no Do You Feel Loved at the end
  10. -- some inadecuate stuff --
  11. I think Pop as an album is alright. But I think U2 overreached with Popmart, not just in the ideological concept, but maybe even in execution and performance. None of my live performances of Pop songs come from Popmart because I simply can't stand the sound of it. Their ZooTV and Elevation Tours have way more passion compared to Popmart. The tour may have left them with a bitter taste, explaining why they deny the existence of this album.
