They never really got please right in studio. The us edit sounds heavily edited, which i know it is, but it should be done more subtly. The strings on the full single version are completely unnecessary. The album version sounds like a demo. The live version is great however.
I'm grateful that these singles are being remastered. However, I don't like this trend of omitting tracks.
Some examples:
Staring at the Sun
- "A surprising omission is the “Staring at the Sun” (Lab Rat Mix) which was on the original commercial single in 1997." Source: u2songs.com
Please
- "Sadly, the recording of “With or Without You” that was originally included on the “Please” single has not been included on this new digital single." Source: u2songs.com. Canadians could get politely irked!
- Damonio123 posting "Please (USA Edit)" which was previously included in the Apple iTunes 'The Complete U2'. Americans could get upset!
I just hope when "If God Will Send His Angels" is released it's complete. Great single and fantastic b-sides.
We're more likely to get a chocolate bar with the 'Sweetest Thing' release then the b-side "With or Without You" (remastered or not).
Can anyone please ask the intern to consult U2songs web site before releasing these things incompletely? And just in case, let her know that as opposed to CDs / Vinyl there are no limitations on the runtime of digital releases. She might not be aware of it.
