1. from what i've heard (and seen) on DVDs & youtube, European & South American crowds in general put american crowds to shame.

i've only seen U2 in NY/NJ, but next tour i think i'm gonna spend all my money if i have to, just so i can see them in a country that has a strong soccer-crowd-culture (sing along LOUD, hands in the air, dance / jump up and down, loud roars in between songs and when the lights go on during "streets")

can anyone else relate? anybody seen them both inside and outside US and can compare?
  2. We the European are always told as loud audiences, more than Australian, American, etc. I've never seen American crowd live, but I've seen some DVDs and I know what I'm talking bout: we ARE more loud and energetic than Americans!! Despite the shows in america are always better than here, with aweosme setlists and so, but we are better! jajaja

    See ya!
  3. well my first concert was in dortmund germany 1992 and i 'm from holland ....
i thougt during the concert the germaans where very calm and not singing with the
newwest songs at all (zoo tv period) they where singing only with the old songs at that time
but when i saw the first show in holland it was very different ...(1993)
They where clapping and singing if there lifes depends on it !!!!!!
Every song the whole crowd sings along togheter .
also the athmosphere before the concert is very different it's one great party !!!!!
everybody is so exciting and maiby a little crazy !!!!
two years ago in amsterdam( Vertigo tour) there where a couple of strange men before me and
one girl and we had the time of are life !!!
We where making one big party of that night i didn't no there names but it was great !!!!
when the show was over we thanks and shaked hands and kissd the girl and hugd
eachother for the great time togheter !!!!
specialy the girl i thankt because we where standing before the barier of the second row on the field
and she was standing before me but i am a little guy after two songs she decide that i most stand before here so i could see the show better so we changed places !!!
we where standing next to the left catwalk so if the guys (U2)came on it the where only six meters away
  4. Well, Montreal must be awesome too, crazy audiences over there during U2 shows
  5. Hi to everyone
My name is Aidan,I have 18 years old and I live in São Paulo, the bigest city of Brazil.
The U2 came to Brazil in the last year, for 2 shows of Vertigo Tour.I was in the February 20th show,in a hot monday, and the show was transmitted in the TV.
I only attend this show, because I didn't have money to buy tickets for the second show, but this day I'll never forget. With certainty it was the best day of my life!!!
I think that's because U2 came to Brazil only a few times,in 1998 and 2006...well...I don't know...but what Isaw in that day was totaly diferent from the DVDs and shows that I have from the USA...eberybody singing, screaming and jumping all time...80,000 people was in the Morumbi stadium in that night, and I felt e good energy that night,as if each one was singing wiht the soul.

And finally,my father attended the 1998-01-31 show...I couldn't go because I was a little boy in that time, but he told me the same things that I saw 8 years later...amazing show, good energy e everyone happy, singing and junping!!!

I hope U2 come back to Brazil soon, for more shows....and I'd like to invite everyone to visit Brazil when U2 come back...certainty will be a good life experience...

sorry for my English...I'm leraning to be a Airline Pilot someday...

    See you...

  6. Italian audience are really high. And they make great bootlegs too. Spain is also a great venue, for they turn all the rock and roll into a party.
  7. The thing I'll never understand is:
Why does U2 schedule a hundred shows every tour for USA, where they sometimes don't sold-out and he audiences are colder, while here in Europe (where they always sold sout) schedule 30 or 40 shows?
And WHY here in Spain are 2 or 3 (sometimes one) concert every tour if they sold.out?? For example, in the Vertigo's shows, the whole 55.000, 45.000 and 85.000 tickets were sold-uot in 3 hours!!!)

In Holland, the 3 Amsterdam shows were sold out in 1,5 hours Unfortunately...

But U2 is also a company, a brand name, who's trying to make money. The US of A is one big commercial country. When succeeding there, you almost succeed everywhere. I think the lads understand for themselves that the American crowd is less enthousiastic...Just compare Boston/Chicago with Slane and Milan and see for yourself. The entire Irish crowd goes mad when WTSHNN is played...And in Milan, al those arms with Elevation. You don't see that in the USA..
  9. i can vouch for spain; while i haven't yet had the opportunity to go, i've spent hours and hours watching Bruce Springsteen's dvd from Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona

    http://www.amazon.com/Bruce-Springsteen-Street-Band-Barcelona/dp/B00013F35I/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-8525294-9712744?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1175236570&sr=8-1

amazing!!! he was smart to release a dvd from there. the crowd is an integral part of the show. there are several moments where he has to try to quiet them down, and it is clear that the band loves the energy and the challenge that is the crowd.

by comparison, Bruce's Live in NYC has some great musical versions, unfortunately the crowd difference is NIGHT AND DAY, no challenge here, every single time the crowd makes noise he had to work them up and earn it.

    ---

i bet artists like Robbie Williams (success everywhere except USA) are probably not so happy in terms of record sales BUT very happy about that when it comes to touring
  10. I agree that the crowd in europe and and australia, south america are much much better. But I think that there is much more money in the USA. And of corse, when you ave success over there, big chance you have success all around the worl. But i think they should tour more outside the USA.

U2 came to Brazil only 3 times for 6 shows...3 of the popmart tour,1 special show for the tv channel Rede Globo in Elevation Tour and 2 shows of Vertigo Tour....I think it's too litle because they sold out all the ticktes here in Brazil....80000 tickets for each show...

I waited 6 hours in the line to buy the tickets for Vertigo Tour last year...and all tickets were sold out in 4 hours...

    See you
  12. i think that the aussie crowds and yes the european and sth american crowds are more enthused, simply because we don't get to see them as often. for exaple in 2001 when aussie dollar was the retarted bastard gay leper child of the USD, U2 didnt come. this meant aussies and also oher parts of the world had to wait 8 years to see them live and so the audience went off.

i waited at the concert for 12 hours to get front row and i thougt i was at a hevy metal concert the crowd was that loud. we only had 55000 people at brisbane but we rocked the shit out of that stadium!

also what i hate is that brisbane only got one concert when we sold out ust as fast as sydney and mebourne. it pisses me off when sydney gets three concerts and brisvegas gets one when tickets sell out just as fast or faster. pull your finger out boys

of the 15 live dvds i have acrued i would have to say that the Australian crowds are more enthused. a more laid back lifestyle coupled with the pure desire to see u2 live makes the shows in Oz far better than anywhere else. it isnt a huge difference, but it's a difference. not putting down other countries lol

    love and peace
