irving plaza is a 1200-capacity theater in New York City. the show was during ATYCLB promo tour, broadcast live over K-Rock radio station, which included an interview. audience was contest-winners only, so intimate crowd but ALL hardcore fans. 1 & 1/4 hours long, about half a full concert and jam-packed w/ hi-quality tunes.
this concert is analogous to 2004-11-22 brooklyn bridge (surprise concert for release of HTDAAB), only it's 100X better. the setlist consists of mostly 80s-90s, 4 good ATYCLB tracks.
-quality = broadcast. which means best of both worlds: perfect mix of soundboard and audience noise.
-11 o'clock tick tock = encore! first time since lovetown rotterdam 1990-01-10. crowd sings "HOW LONG..." in unison, (almost) in tune, for two full minutes waiting for the band to come back out. it's beautiful.
-desire: GREAT intro. he addresses billy corgan of smashing pumpkins and zach de la rocha of rage, saying being in a band is like "the priesthood or the mob... you won't get out of it alive". this is the night he started the tradition of introducing the band, a tradition which he continued thruout the entire elevation tour. the song sounds great, of course.
-bad: bono flubs the words but the band is tight as ever, and the crowd sings along beautifully. hi energy, intense.
-both bad AND all i want is you are played. usually in elevation tour it's 1 or the other.
-won't get fooled again = end of encore. GREAT edge solo.

I don't like this 11 O'clock at all, too slow for me... I prefer ancient times, even in the form of Silver Lining... More spped please!! However, the rest of the show is amazing!

Red Rocks (1983-06-05), Hattem (1982-05-14), Boston (1983-05-05), Dublin (1983-08-14), Rotterdam (1990-01-10), Dublin (1980-20-26), Chicago (1985-03-21), Boston (1981-03-06) and many others are better than Irving Plaza.
