1. "how much longer can he realistically sing at this level for?"

been asking that question for awhile. The way he sings now, i would say for a while yet he's learnt to manage it quite well, yeah he has off days but that's human.
You can tell it's getting mature. TBOYH vocal is amazing. That deep vocal, those type of songs he can keep up for years to come if they are around.
  2. On the album he sounds amazing, On Red Flag like a young Bono....but falsetto for last two albums is gone

Seriously, his voice isn't that powerful anymore for sure, but the maturity and rawness make way for a new kind of heartfelt stories.

Im pretty sure he still got the same power he had on IE Tour in 2015:
Listen from 6m10s and to the end.
  4. Why are you even asking this in the first place
  5. Good on the album; not so good after the tour. SNL wasn't really great, was it?
  6. I think the guys at SNL really botched up the audio mixing this time around. The last time I saw them on SNL the sound was superb, but last night it just didn't sound right. Sounded like you were listening from behind a layer of thick glass.

However, Bono did sound like he was getting over some sort of sickness.
  7. I thought he did pretty well. Yeah he did sound a bit like he was getting over a cold on SNL, but he does generally sound a bit worse on promo performances than he does mid tour. I'm quite optimistic he will get better. Also, I don't know if they have found the right key yet for some songs live, so there's that too.

On a side note, Edge's guitar sounded much better during GOOYOW. I thought it sounded a bit weird when they played it live in London. I'm glad they have improved that since then.

I wonder also if Bono is still using salt water for keeping his vocals sounding clean? I heard he was doing this during the 360 tour and it definitely sounded like it helped. I remember reading somewhere he said it helped him reach the high notes.

Hopefully he's not still smoking..i know it worked for Achtung Baby, that raspy voice made that album!!..but everybody know's he probably could of got a lot more out of his voice if wasn't shouting so much in the early days, it sounded raw and pure emotion was in it!! but it did not help much..Just look at the way his voice changed weird from 1997-2001 only really got it back 2009/11/15

  9. I dont think any vocal on JT of Streets was as good as this.... I could be wrong.

On a side note his vocal on SOE is great but its been treated for sure. I think live some of these tunes will struggle he doesnt sound good live on any performance of Best Thing GOOYOW or American Soul so far. REALLY shouty. Hopefully warms up a bit, but it has declined since 2015 for sure.
  10. His voice wasnt great for the all i want is you bbc..... compare that to performances from a couple of years ago...... 360 for example.
