1. I just received an email from U2 and I downloaded this new app that we can use at the concert. Guess there will be additional images, etc we can see outside of the stuff they have on screen as well. At home you can point it at your Songs of Experience album and then you'll see the cover break away and a hologram Bono singing "Love is All We Have Left."

Not sure how I feel about this, I'm already annoyed at the people in the GA crowd in front of me holding their phones up in front of me, now I'll be compelled to do so as well to see the "Augmented segments."

  2. The app says: before the show or at home. I wouldn’t be surprised if it will also work during the show, but for now no word about that. Eminem also has this feature during his upcoming tour, I believe only for the first couple of songs.
  3. My opinion is, I don't want to see rock show through my phone (or anyone else's). Other thing is it probably needs internet connection, right? Will there be strong wifi connection in every arena? If I go abroad (from Europe to US for example) I don't want to spend big money on data.
Btw. no app for Windows phone? (not that I have one)
  4. I recall bono ranting at someone in the front row b/c she was using her phone! I think they should ban phones at indoor concerts. We didn’t have them 15-20 years ago and everything was just fine.
  5. After the first song, the App will automatically lock all phones 'til after the show.

I've been to Bob Dylan last week (great concert, btw.). The use of cell phones and any other electrical device except pacemakers for the weak-of-the-heart , musical Instruments, stage lights and amps was banned, so everybody was really focused and into the music. Quite an enjoyable experience and a nice change from other concerts I've been to.

So instead of encouraging people to bring their phones I'd like U2 to ban them, too.
  6. They've 100% lost the plot
  7. this is gross and it might get worse with the AR goggles...
especially if they decide to expand this thing to the whole show

    Windows Phone is dead.

Pretty sure all of the content is in the app. Due to its massive size.
  10. Reading the official statement on U2.com, to me it sounds like the VR stuff on the phone will only really be used before the show and the first song.
  11. I know... but some might still use it...
not to mention some might have some older android phone with worse RAM - gets stuck or not running at all...
