1. Hey, i have only seen u2 at the ie tour and the JT2017 tour since i am only 15. And was wondering if the ei tour is louder than the ie tour (for those who have gone to both)
  2. it should be the same rig as 2015. There has been no mention of changes to the sound setup.

I'd say it depends mostly on each venue (some cities/venues have legal limitations in the amount of SPL they can achieve) and on your location within the venue. In Barcelona2 I was in the nosebleeds and the sound was faint and muddy, but when I got to the floor by UTEOTW, it was fucking blasting, even louder than the night before. I don't think the sound this tour will be significantly louder/softer than the previous one if you're at comparable (or even the same) venue.

BTW, welcome to the forums and to our site, Evan
  4. I feel like indoor shows are louder than stadiums anyway(?), Idk, that's just my feeling.
  5. Stadiums are outdoors and hence the sound can "escape" more easily, while arena shows are usually perceived as louder because the sound (both from the music and the audience) can't go away so easily and reverberates all around you. I'd say the SPL at the speakers is comparable or even a bit louder for stadium shows, but the perception from the attendees is that they're softer sounding than arenas.

Depends on the band and the stadium too - one of the louder (if not the loudest) concert I've seen was Coldplay at Vicente Calderón stadium, one band you wouldn't think of as particularly loud... it was deafening.
  6. I had tinnitus for weeks after seeing I&E at the London O2 gig on the floor in 2015...lesson learned
  7. Well I always wear earplugs anyway at a show, and so should all of you do. It makes the sound better and will prolong the life of your ears a bit.

That said, I thought the sound was even better than 2015, and also a bit louder. That's general though, as Sergio said it heavily depends on the venue.

    What kind of earplugs?
And where does one get such appliances?
  9. I remember seeing a guy at London 1 2017 with ear plugs and thinking what a 'wimp', but my ears rang for weeks and still quietly do, next two shows I saw (Public Service Broadcasting - check em out) I wore ear plugs!! Respect to the London 1 guy
