1. I'm always wondering what Bono actually says at the start here..does anyone know that? I can hear some words but because of the crowd/music I can't hear them all.
  2. Well, sorry for being late, but I was searching the CD where I have burned the show...
    That's my personal-subjective-and-invented transcription:

"This one is to me like a [Stream?].. Scares her from word to word, could I goodbye... The whole body has to move and sing like [???], in a dream... Song back up [Dreamt?] to all the roads... Song back up [dreamt?] to all the lands... Of another home... Of another home... Where the streets have no name... Take me... Take me THERE!!!!!

Well, you're gonna realize that I have invented many words, and the text has no coherence, but... It's aaaall I can doooooo...
Maybe someone whom speak english as his main language can drop our doubts out!
  3. the first part is a snippet of "resolution and independence," a poem by william wordsworth.

"His voice to me was like a stream
Scarce heard: nor word from world could I divide
The whole body of the man did seem
Like one whom I had met in a dream"

the rest is a tribute to irish dramatist / novelist / poet samuel beckett, who had passed away 4 days before on 1989-12-22.

"Sam Beckett dreamt of other roads
Sam Beckett dreamt of other lands
Of another home, of another home
Where the streets have no name
    Take me, take me!"

Thank you for asking this question, because I was attempting to do that, but I always forgot

This is one of the best intros to Streets, maybe even the best...

Well, I wasn't too far, but I'm Spanish, not American...
    Thanks for asking rightly!!
  6. LikeASong, that was a fantastic attempt, especially for a non-native speaker!

I needed to look most of it up. Bono uses a REALLY thick accent here, ESPECIALLY "Sam Beckett" sounds a lot like "some back at."

    Thanks!
I think that Bono's usually easier to understand than here in Dublin, specially when he talks to us the Spanish, the French, Italian and when they go through Latin Amercia. But when they play in America, Australia, Ireland or England... OMG, I don't understand nothing!
  8. Thanks for answering my question! It's indeed one of the best intro's to Streets. It can be compared with Slane, although that one is actually the best I've heard.
  9. I think this is my favourite version of Streets...this whole boot is great but streets and One Tree Hill really stand out for me.

Second favourite is the Superbowl version of Streets, I remember seeing that aired live and remembering how powerful it was to see that amazing performance while the names of those killed on Spetember 11th scrolled for the entire world to see. Quite moving

  10. yeah, this version has REALLY grown on me. it is currently my favorite version, even surpassing the popheart ep. i can hear it over and over and not get tired.

-bono's vocals are awesome. i love "trampled in dust!" it's so intense.
-this recording is SO CLEAN! it's cleaner than 12-31 new year's eve, even. the synthesizers are prominent in the mix, they're so soothing.
