Postcards from Earth is 55 minutes. They are likely keeping Sphere films to one length to fit scheduling, as we've seen they can display 2hr of graphics with some of the shows without issue. Also it probably keeps it more interesting to randoms in Vegas. 2 hours is a big time commitment when you are on vacation if you just want to see Sphere, and aren't the biggest fan of U2.
Additional footage has been filmed other than concert footage. So this may not just be songs as well, or may not be full songs. We know that some of the song footage shown will not show the band performing but will rather show off the capabilities of the Sphere itself. So instead of seeing the band on stage during that moment, we'll see the graphics used on screen at that point instead. For that reason I suspect we'll see some of the Elvis stuff ("Real Thing") and the falling roof bit ("The Fly").
And there's been some talk that it's not a U2 at Sphere documentary but more a look at the Achtung Baby songs. With the announcement of the film rumoured to be coming on August 30, I can't help but wonder if the Zoo TV Sydney EP ties in which comes out the same day.
