1. I rarely ever visit U2.com. I joined it for the Vertigo pre-sale and will probably do so again, but I never actually use the site itself. Usually official band sites are pretty lame (although this one looks cool because it lets you stream all their music and videos).

But I checked today for the heck of it, and realized that every Vertigo Tour date is listed off by one from the actual date! They're all listed a day too early.

I find it funny how fans who get paid no money do a much better job, at least in terms of accuracy, that's no question. I guess that's the whole idea behind the "labor of love," because fans take it way more seriously (maybe too seriously )...

It's probably also why several pieces of Open Source software have already destroyed their mass-produced competitors, b/c it's people who love to write quality code for fun in their spare time (Firefox vs. Internet Explorer? Anyone? Anyone?)

I will never pay for u2.com, they suck. I didn't know the problem of he dates, but I knwe that there are usual problems with the videos and so. They suck

    Viva U2vertigotour.com!!
  3. It was the first site from U2 i visited because it's the official one but after a few days, the site was already boring...
You can see lyrics, the albums and singles and a news topic from the band but just maybe once in 5 days...
And then i saw the price to join for downloads
So i looked again, found this site and never left

I don't know about the tour dates cause i saw everything was already sold out so i didn't check further
  4. That's pretty strange, I'm sure it's kind of a technical error, because it was always quite accurate. However, I believe that u2-vertigo-tour.com is the most accurate one.

I'm a premium member of U2.com, don't know why, but it's fine to me
  5. Well, I think u2.com is to be considered not as a fanclub, 'cause as a fanclub it sucks of course. It has to be considered the most important reference point for U2 fans, because what you find in there and what you know by u2.com is just something very close to U2 themselves, as it's their Official Web-site!

So we need both u2.com (for official information) and a fanclub (for all the other things). And The Fanclub is U2START!

  6. That's why I was surprised. You'd think U2.com would be the most accurate. However, I believe that fansites will be more accurate, because if we know another fan is running the site, we treat them differently than if we believe it's a company running the site.

For example: I spotted a U2.com error. Who do I tell? Ummm, not sure. So it stays.
Vs: U2start.com error. Someone posts up here on the forum, "hey, Remy, the setlist is wrong for XXXX-XX-XX. They didn't play "40" they only snippeted." I dunno, something like that, but we don't hesitate to open our mouths when we see something like that, so it's more self-correcting, sort of like Wikipedia.

And yes, www.u2-vertigo-tour.com is absolutely amazing. The layout is perfect and detailed information is very clear. I wish that www.u2tours.com would integrate all its fan reviews & photos onto U2-Vertigo-Tour, it would be the best!

Correction: In most areas of the website, U2's Vertigo Tour dates are accurate. However, if you click on "Tours" > "Other Tours" and click on any leg of the Vertigo Tour, you'll get the off-by-one error:

I agree with your analysis. But I also think that it's more probable that a fansite give wrong information than u2.com do (don't know if it's the correct syntactical form...).
