1. Saints Are Coming (live with Green Day) from 2006 has 3x3 lights in the background that look IDENTICAL to those used on the joshua tree tour in 1987. any thoughts?

i hope so! i like the idea of U2 going green.

between ZooTV and PopMart alone they've built so much electronic junk i think they could just re-use that stuff and come up with new tour designs for years to come!
  4. yea isnt the arch of POPMart part of the heart for Elevation? i read that somewhere that they took it apart kind of i recycle a lot 2 green is good
  5. that's awesome. i didn't know that.

Yeah you're right, good noticed !

But to be honest i think this is rather coincidence because of 2 reasons
    - Why should they take lights again from about 20 years ago for a performance with Green Day in the Superdome...?

    - It are not really 'special' lights => Just 9 spots in a square, that's not so extraordinary or special so i think it's coincidence that they took 3 x 3 spots...

If it was the curtain of lights from Vertigo tour, that would really be remarkable...

    I agree!
I doubt that they would use the same lights
    especialy if there common ones..

and I believe that because the show was at the super dome, the stage was built by the stadium's staff and not the u2 staff..

    but go figure..

this is very possible. remember super bowl 2002, though? the superdome staff tried to build a replica of the u2's elevation tour heart and it really did not look like the original at all.

just one final comparison (don't worry, I'll give it a rest after this, I swear!)

Helter Skelter (Rattle And Hum): the ones in the back, not the circular ones on the side.

    most useful snippet: 1:10-1:30

    Saints Are Coming:

    most useful snippet: 5:00-5:20

it's not just that they're 3x3, the 9 lights are spaced out the same (i think), they're roughly the same size in comparison to the band, they fluctuate on / off in a similar, if not same way, and they are both REALLY BRIGHT when turned on 100%. (remember, these were the same ones that went on during "streets" in joshua tree tour / rattle and hum fiim, to the best of my observation)
