1. Hi,

Not so long ago, i've downloaded "The Best Of PopMart" here that Spiral Staircase put on the site...
The last part is "Edge's Karaoke"
It are all songs played by a certain Willy that Edge and the crowd sing at loud (eg Singing in the rain, Volare, Born To Be Wild...)

I've never heard about this but it sounds quite fun
Does anyone have more info about this ? About the idea of the karaoke, how it worked etc
Or does anyone have a link to see a video ? Cause if you hear the sound, the crowd most go nuts with some songs

  2. "Singing in the Rain" from Popmart Leeds

    ---

I don't have video, but I was at East Rutherford 1997/06/03 and he sang New York, New York. His introduction was "Tonight is a very special night. For tonight, and tonight only... New York City, I'm gonna kiss your ass."

in fact Willy (Willy Williams) is U2's tour designer and lightening Director ... (faq here)
I saw "Singin in the rain" in Mannheim 97
  4. I love it, sounds so funny on the bootlegs.

Songs like Volare, or Dancing Queen, awesome!

Hmm, not much singing from Edge in Volare.

Dancing Queen in Tel Aviv is great

Other favorites for me is Daydream Believer (Las Vegas), It's Not Unusal (Chicago), New York New York (East Rutherford), San Francisco (Oakland), Sailing (Edinburgh), Singing In The Rain (Mannheim), Suspicious Minds (Hannover), Sweet Caroline (Edmonton) and Sugar Sugar (Thessaloniki).

    Wow, that's a lot!

But it is one of the greatest Edge karaoke performances because the crowd was over 150.000 people, Italian, singing along, now there's a place I'd like to go to in the past

  7. Agree. That was not the case with Macarena in Barcelona....

That was a great one too!

  9. Are you kidding? Most of the crowd was booing as they are Catalans and hate this song. Afterwards, the band made an apologize.

Yeah, but the people didn't like it at all (it's a hated song at Barcelona...).
Even U2 said that playing Macarena was one of the worst mistakes of the tour.
I can say that many people hate U2 here at Spain because of Macarena '97...

EDIT. Oh I was 3 minutes late because of my internet connection speed... It seems like I have copied from zootv4all...

Really? Why? What's the background of the song that they don't like?
