1. Firstly I am not too familiar with the entrances/introductions that happen before the ZooTV era (if there are any). But of the following common tour walk ons what is your favourite:

Vertigo tour- Wake up by Arcade Fire being played before you hear Bono whispering and then shouting "Everyone, EveryONE, EVERYOONEEE!"

Elevation tour- Elevation music being played as the band takes to the stage and the crowd begin jumping and anticipating the gig ahead.

Popmart Tour- Pop muzik! walking through the crowd to reach the stage, like a boxers walk to the ring.

ZooTV tour- Propagada Videos, crazy drumming and then Bono appears on the high stage.

Mine is a toss up between the Elevation entrance and the Popmart entrance- Pure Euphoria!!!!!!.
ZooTV has an entrance that takes too long (5 mins) and so the crowd noise and general madnesshas died down. Vertigo Tour just doesn't get me as excited as the elevation and popmart entrance.

What's Yours?
2. depends on the day really. 2day I love the Chicago DVD entrance but yesterday I was watching ZOO TV live from Sydney and I was like woa........ during the video stuff so Idk i like them all

i'd like to add Joshua Tree Tour to the mix. with a couple of exceptions, most nights opened with a blood red background and organ playing the intro to Where The Streets Have No Name as the band takes the stage. as The Edge kicks in the guitar, flashing strobe-like lights start to rhythmically go off. then, the drums kick in and as the song opens full blast, all the lights on the stage go on at once. very epic.

that being said, my vote is #1 PopMart. so exciting! fans get to dance and jump around to high energy dance music (the remix of M's Pop Muzik). then the band walks through the crowd onstage, and Bono struts around arrogantly, shadow-boxing and fake-jumping-rope. when it can't get any better... Mofo begins. i love it.

#2 was Elevation for me. everybody singing whoo-whoo in unison, then going nuts when the band reached the stage. the noise was deafening (and also, Elevation Tour was kind of like "make-up sex," if you will, for those fans who didn't like zooropa / pop so you could feel that sort of vibe in the air). also, mid-way through "elevation" all the house lights went off at the same time, and the crowd roared again. it was great.

so in short, i agree with Angel_or_Devil yet again
4. Popmart, absolutely, now that was stunning! I immediately want to see it again *pops in Popmart DVD
5. Elevation was best because it was so simple and down to earth, POPMART was amazing because techno/dance music works so well with people in happy moods.
6. Popmart is spectacular.. but the Joshua Tree tour is amazing too it just sends shivers down my spine.. when the lights go full balst it amazing! That song live is the best opening of the show ever!

That show opening gives me the warm fuzzies ony U2 music an bring
7. POPMART !!!!
that was great !!!!I It feels like the band was one with the crowd !!!
And elevation was great because they went on stage with the light house on !!!
And in the middle of elevation they put the house lights of and then you got the feeling
Yes the show is started for real LET THE SHOW BEGIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
8. wake up into the intro of city of blinding lights is awesome... the only reason i like it is probably because its the most modern...
9. The order of which would go like:

POPmart
Having PopMuzik/MOFO when the band come in like a boxing match is very cool.

Joshua Tree
The red all over the stage looks sick.

ZooTV
5 minutes is a little long but at least the audience is fired up. I love the beginning to Zoo Station and when Bono comes down from the giant screens.

Elevation
Elevation rocks here, and when they're walking out is really cool.

Vertigo
When the stage goes dark with Bono shouting Everyone is pretty awesome, and opening towards City of Blinding Lights or Vertigo.

That's what I think. What do you lot think?
10. ZooTV, the long intro just makes it all the more exciting for me, it gets you joyously impatient than BAM, zoo station.

Of course there were. Even in the Boy Tour there was an intro composed of a song of the Ramones (usually was Glad To See You) and then Paul MacGuiness introducted to U2.

In the October era they used to play Shadows And Tall Trees, then another song (Bob Dylan, Ramones, even Bruce Stringsteen, etc), and then again Paul introduced them.

In the War tour they played the song Harry's Game (as seen on the Red Rocks video) at the beggining and at the end of the show.

In the Unforgettable Fire was played 4th of July over the PA, and the the band came into with 11 O'Clock. The first time that they didn't need an intro-speech of Mr McGuiness... They were quite popular then

The Joshua cocnerts began with Sympathy For The Devil, which faded into All You Need Is Love, which faded into the most popular organ ever. The lights go off, the stage turns red... Only the organ sounds... And here comes Larry... Tan-tan-tan-tan-tan-chs-tan-tan-tan-tan-tan-chs... That's the Edge... Adam... And Bono screams "HOOAHH!!!"... And the lights go ON!!

I can't deiced between Joshua and Zoo intro. I love both... And both are amazing!!

Wow LikeASong, that's a fantastic description! I couldn't put it any better... And I'm drooling now

By the way, my favorite "HOOAHH!!!" is from 1987-11-07 Denver. I even prefer it to Rattle And Hum film.
