1. Since the reception in this topic (http://www.u2start.com/topic/1524/) really made me feel a lot better about that song, I thought I'd let out about another extremely underrated track, again, who's meaning seems to be skimmed over.

Savage lyrics, subtle heartbreaking melody and a crooning chorus, I'm talking about So Cruel of course.

Beautiful song that I've seen done by live cover bands and it really is a great live song. I don't think its ever been played live though which is too bad. It's a song that gets over looked in its neighborhood next to big stars like One, Zoo Station, the Fly, Mysterious Ways but really there is so much depth to this song and the lyrics are up there in my top 5 song lyrics Bono has ever written.

The sound of a sinking poet.

Any ideas behind the story of this one?
  2. I think it was written about The Edge's first wife. They where going through some tough times, and they did end up seperated. I dont remember where I read this but it was some where. moreinfo shortly.

  3. Jesus....zooTV4all man, you're like Johnny on the spot with all the U2 live gigs.
I'm downloading this gig right away, thanks for the insight!
  4. I agree, I think this is a fabulous song with cracking lyrics.

I particularly like the way the layering of the music grows as the song progresses, bits being added all the way through.

Stunning vocal too from the B-Man

  5. yip im downloading it now as well. its such a great song but i cant see u2 playing it live in the near future. i just dont think bonos voice could handle it, unless he altered his technique that is .........
  6. It is indeed inspired by Edge's break-up, but as many U2 songs, it's not only that. Read the comments from other fans on this songs lyrics here:

Oh and eh, isn't it "Desperation is a tender trap"? Track doesn't make sense.

It's probably my favorite U2 ballad, I love this song so much, the lyrics are the most beautiful lyrics of any U2 song, period. I've dealt with a broken heart many times and this song always describes my feelings the best. I couldn't break my heart without it
  7. It is a very good song, it actually grabbed my attention the most when I first heard Achtung Baby.
  8. Without a doubt my favourite u2 track . Larry smashing the symbols all the way through . Was delighted to hear other people rate it so highly as well

Me as well, a lot of people don't even know this song exists which is frustrating. On any other album, this track would shine out as a classic. Too bad it ended up on the greatest album of all time
