1. Hi, all.

I need your help. For all the soundboards on all of the tours, which ones are from a soundboard, which are broadcast (TV or Radio), and which are ear pieces? Also, can you give some suggestions about which shows are great or your favorite from the best of the best in recording quality?

Sorry if I'm asking too much, but please help me out.

    Much obliged.

On each tour page there's a drop-down list which you click on - in the top-right hand corner on each tour list. Choose Soundboard or Audience, or on each bootleg page (by clicking the date) is a rating with five or less stars, choose from that - some should say whether they're IEM (in-ear-monitor) recordings, but some are pretty bad because you hear so much interference.

One of my favourites is 2001-10-25 at Madison Square Gardens, this is one you should get from Elevation. As well as Red Rocks 1983 (1983-06-05) from Under A Blood Red Sky and 1993-08-28 from Dublin ZooTV. Sarajevo POPmart is pretty good as a general bootleg, apparently great quality.

Oh yeah and before I forget, 1989-12-31 at Point Depot is awesome too - great show. You must have it!!! Try that out, it should help you.
  3. Unfortunately, "soundboard" is not (yet) further subdivided here. But you can do a search on http://www.achtungbootlegs.com
The information there is much more detailed, you can search for different sources (audience, soundboard, broadcast, earpiece, ALD...) and/or sound quality.
That won't tell you what versions are available here, but it'll give you an idea on what's circulating.

On the new U2start those kind of details will be available here too and users will be able to filter on the type of recording. You can filter then on audience/soundboard/IEM, ALD and TV/radio broadcast. Off course it'll take some time before everything's accurate but we're on the right track

So, topicstarter, give us 2 weeks and you'll be able to filter the bootlegs here on the type recording.
  5. Cool.

Next step would be to give source/lineage information for the shows. At least naming the taper if he's known would be good. Helps especially when there are several recordings/remasters of one show and gives them the credits they deserve.
Maybe you could make that a required info on at least the new additions. I understand that you don't wanna review every show to check who taped.

You're right, I can create something like that for the new U2start, still have some time left. It may take a while but maybe we have all the information accurate and complete after a year or so And even if not, the taping/taper/source/lineage information for only 10 shows is better than nothing
