1. Just read that Bono said they will really rock on the new album!! OMG, my dream has come true - I hope!! I hope, please God! I want it now! Does anyone else think that U2 should make a real rock album?
  2. I'd like to see an entire album with the power of the first halves of ATYCLB and HTDAAB. The second halves of those albums didn't really do it for me as much as the first halves (except for Yahweh, which is one the best songs to ever end an album).

Combine the first halves of those two albums and you have perfection.

As for an all-out rock album, I think they could do it. But if it means that Edge has to sacrifice the trademark delay for most of it, then I don't know how well it would work.
  3. Exactly! I totally agree with you! If they make an album as powerful as the other two (the beginning of the two), they are going to win every Grammy there is!! Maybe they got that idea from touring, when they saw how crazy everyone became when they played Vertigo and Elevation!! I know I certainly went nuts at the concert in Auckland ha ha! There is so much "electricity" in the song Vertigo, and I hope to God they will make a whole album with rock songs, that's what they do best!
  4. That's not what he said, he said something has to change, either the rock has to go away completely or has to be harder. But given Bono's quotes in the past, it's not very likely that it'll be true what he says, he says so much.

I don't take anything on U2's future seriously what Bono says, he has also said HTDAAB will be a rock album, now since when is that true? He's proven a thousand times he's not really good at predicting U2's future (music).

I think the new album will be something else but I don't think it's anything like what Bono says. I think it'll feature a lot more piano and stuff than we hope
  5. Well, a lot of HTDAAB (at least the singles) were some damn fine rock songs, if they elaborate on that style and take it through and entire album (instead of just the first half or so) then...

But then again, listening to the new songs, I kinda sense something Beatlesque coming out of the next recording sessions. Window In The Skies may just be the best Beatles song never to be performed by the Beatles, if you know what I mean.
  6. Hmmmm......... well I'm sure it will be good no matter what, but it would be nice if they did some rock songs on it. It would be nice to see an album a la Achtung Baby, and the song Vertigo of course, those type of heavy songs. But it's not up to us is it?

Yeah I'd like to see something in the direction of Zooropa or Pop, or maybe Achtung Baby, a dark album would be great.

I agree with you Remy, we just have to wait, all those quotes and promises, most of them aren't true. But i really hope it will be real rock again. Like josh and rattle
  9. A dark rock album would be great, but...

I remember an interview with Bono not long after HTDAAB came out when he talked about how they had to persuade The Edge to write a rock song or two... he said something along the lines of because he can churn them out so easily he doesn't value them. Of course, sometimes Bono opens his mouth just to fill the silence I think!

Personally, I loved the rockier songs on the last two albums - to begin with. Then I find something "clicks" with the other tracks and I end up preferring them, with the rock tracks there to provide the high energy live moments needed by the tour.

All that said, what I am really hoping for from the next album is a change of direction. Whilst ALTYCLB and HTDAAB aren't "the same" I would say there are strong similarities between them, and I don't really see the need for a third "instalment". Besides, the retrospective aspects of HTDAAB provide the perfect opportunity to draw a line under the past before breaking in to some new territory.
  10. He has said we probably hear only an accoustic guitar and his voice, powerful and lonely, as a feeling transmissor in many of the tracks.
So I wouldn't expect so many rock
  11. So, Adam and Larry fancied a few days off did they?
  12. I would like to hear some more effects and electonica on the new album, but not as mush as was on Zooropa and Pop though.
