Performance

Fabulous performance, loud and fast and enthusiastic. Bono’s voice is croaky but he’s absolutely on fire. It’s St Patrick’s Day and U2 are properly celebratory. Bono makes frequent exhortations for the crowd to dance.

Before An Cat Dubh, Bono mentions that they almost got arrested earlier that day. Rejoice is excellent, with Bono repeatedly singing “if I reach out”. The Cry and The Electric Co have lyrical changes. Bono says that this is their first performance of Tomorrow, but it’s actually the second. Edge is about to start playing the wrong song at the start of I Will Follow. Twilight segues directly to Out of Control. Bono talks about Irish stereotypes in 11 O’clock. The Ocean has the excellent extended ending typical of this period.

Very good sound. The crowd are in the mix but not too loud. There does seem to be a little cut in I Threw a Brick.
