Why would they "remaster" videos that are 3-6 years old? I can't see them remastering any further than NLOTH, and even that would be pushing it since the NLOTH vids are available in full HD already iirc.

I wouldn't worry about it. This isn't a U2 project, and it's likely not to be tied to any big U2 project ahead. It's a project between YouTube and Universal that goes back to 2019. They've been not only doing U2 videos but also videos from other artists like Lady Gaga, Billy Idol, Gwen Stefani and The Killers. Each is using the same #Remastered tag as they work their way through the catalog.
Not only that, but Guy Oseary also has his other artist doing the same. Madonna is also currently upgrading all her videos.

The whole thing is being done by Maverick / Universal in conjunction with YouTube. U2's had little to do with it all, other than to provide some of the raw video footage.
