Proof that the Edge is the hardest working man in rock and roll. Larry and Adam never miss a beat. Bono is very Bono and he gives it his all.
This sounds like being there, but better. The instruments come through very clearly - except when everybody is jamming at once on the more electro songs like Get on Your Boots the sound is more like a stew than crisp individual parts. Bono's vocals have a bit of a stadium sound to them that you wouldn't get from a soundboard but everything his says is very clear. I commend the taper for an awesome job in a difficult atmosphere. U2 is clearly decades beyond being a bar band but this show retains a personal feel even in a massive stadium setting and the personal touch is well captured by this recording. Recording: "Schoeps CCM4 - Sound Devices 702" - 4 stars
Very good. Best example is the singing on Still Haven't Found. Applauded all of Bono's political stuff (which was a lot) and really appreciated the encores.
We tailgated and grilled and took turns cranking U2 songs with the car next to us (we didn't know them). Muse was fantastic. Great to hear the old and new songs. I was glad there was no Zooropa and Pop (although they are now kind of a novelty to me since I didn't play them for so long). The acoustic Stuck in a Moment was fantastic as was the closing Moment of Surrender. It was nice Bono actually sang all the words to One. I've only been to three U2 concerts so I don't think I'm qualified to give it a 5, but I'm confident in the 4 1/2 rating.

the occasional wind rumble even though I did use windscreens.

This show was great, me and wife (GA) and other family crew (seats) went down to see
it since it wasn't coming close to Pgh that year. I don't remember a whole lot of the
details other than two pricks who shifted their way in front of us and really pissed
me off at one point, but they continued to move on so it worked out. In hindsight, I
pulled a pretty good show, but at the time, I didn't think I did (what's new eh?) - the
mastering by bonzosozp really improved it a lot and overall, really nice gig, its a bit
distant but clean vocals, pretty clean overall sound on all the instruments. Sounds better
at higher volumes....The echo at times is pretty wild but in a stadium this big, oh well,
not much you can do about it based upon where I was standing. It's not too too bad or
distracting and only in a couple spots is it really noticable (mostly when Bono is
chatting with us all). I've never taped in a place this big, oh I take that back, I did
tape at the SARS gig in Toronto back in 2003 (400,000) but I was so far away that I setup
in front of one the satillte speakers and those tapes sound like I was taping in my living
room in front of a floor speaker, very clean sound those have, plus it was an open field,
not a walled stadium...I should probably dig them back out and rip them (have them on
CDR I think). I've seen U2 twice after this, in 2011 & 2017 and didn't roll either time.
Both in big stadiums (I prefer the arenas). Thankfully the 2011 Pgh show was recorded via
IEM and its floating around and its pretty good.
I know there was at least one other source for this 2009 date but its not on the tracker
anymore (that I can see).
Thanks to Bonzo for the remaster, great job!!!

I have been lucky that every show I have attended has had a recording made available.
I listened to some good advice though and took it upon myself to record shows I attend also.
Recording is difficult and isn't always perfect but if nothing else, you have a recording.
I think of it as "Taper Karma", get out and make the attempt, your recording may be the only one.
If everyone at least made the attempt, regardless of the outcome, every show would have some kind of recording.

"It's very hard to face. If it were something we had to face, I imagine you would do. What needs to be done, but it wouldn't be a decision we would take easily or comfortably. But I don't think that's the decision we're facing at the moment. I think Larry has some significant injuries from a repetitive motion - something that drummers are susceptible to - so I think he wants to mind himself and take some advice and find out what's the best thing to do."
- Adam on touring without Larry, 2022
did you know
The Picture of Dorian Grey mentioned in the song 'The Ocean' is a novel by Oscar Wilde, the Irish author who has been a huge influence on Bono's lyrics. In referring to it, Bono mocks his own vanity in thinking a rock star can change the world.
