Performance

The swapping of "So Cruel" and "Acrobat" so that the latter song kicked off the second half of the "Achtung Baby" songs added new layers of drama. Whereas before the band eased into the finale of the song, they now plunged kicking and fighting into it. A real improvement from what came beforehand.

The Edge suffered some audio issues. His guitar dropped noticeably in volume at times. Even this far into the run there were kinks to be worked out.

Sound

Audience

Lame crowd. The Sphere audiences are pretty full of casual/disengaged people who talk and yell randomly. Hopefully the band will reconsider making this a Vegas-only residency and take some version of this show on the road.

Overall

Some things like the "rope swing" skit actually detract from the performance and need to go. Likewise some of the visuals fall short of what is possible with the technology.

Bring back the spring 1992 visuals: The lady with the spnining head for "Mysterious Ways" and especially the old, haunting constellation maps for "Love Is Blindness."

That being said the bandmembers visibly enjoyed themselves and each other. Bram's little changes like the drum fills in "Ultraviolet" give the old songs new, imaginative energy. I worry that they will be sick of (or bored with) the Sphere and the setlist by 2024 so I'm glad I saw them while everything felt new -- for them and us.
