1. I have a feeling the version on SOE is the Paul Epworth version as SOE_nigma said it featured handclaps on twitter.

There are two other versions of the song

    Epworths is here -

    Interscope version -

The Epworth version cuts out a lot of the first verse but it's great, the Interscope one is gorgeous and raw and has more of a crying guitar solo. I have been a long time admirer of this song, I have it on 10', some of Bono's best lyrics in a lot time.Love the Oliver Jeffers video too.

I have a feeling it's the Epworth mix on the album but what do you think? A new one?
  2. Like the Interscope version way better
  3. Where the interscope version come from? Never heard of it
  4. It's been out for years but never been released officially, it was on soundcloud when they released the song and their twitter, it's awesome.
  5. They're both quite different from the version I own on vinyl and mp3. Is the Interscope version the one that was used for the movie?
  6. No it’s never been released, only on soundcloud.
  7. I think there are 5 versions around:

    1. Single version
    2. Soundtrack version
    3. Epworth version
    4. Interscope Promo Alternate Mix
    5. Virtual Chorus Mix

The first two are on vinyl/CD/ Hi-Res, the next two are streams and the last one was a lossy download from u2.com.

The Extraordinary Mix would be a 6th version.

It's silly to repeat the same lyrics twice just for the sake of shaking things up. I kinda like the different verse at 1:46, though: "To give and receive, it's the same, it's the same". Simple and too Bono-ish but a nice twist.

Wasn't the Interscope mix the one that actually leaked first, the one that was played over the credits of the Mandela film and was recorded with crappy quality by someone at the cinema? Can't quite remember.
  9. Ignore the clickbait-inducing thumbnail and just focus on the music... I have a feeling the "Extraordinary Mix" could be similar to this:

  10. Classic U2. I will eat another of Jana's hats if this is actually extraordinary.
  11. Don't think so. Runtime of the video is 5:52 whilst runtime of the erxtraordinary mix is supposed to be 3:38 which is a significant difference.
