What do you think of this? What songs in this list are your favorites too or which songs are you discovering because of this list?
  2. Personally, I think it's a great gesture of Bono, always staying (for his ego) humble and honor on such a special occasion not him, but the artists that inspire him. It's also notable that he is interested in everything in music, current and old, like the Renaissance man he is.
  3. Can't wait to read what Bono says about Walking In My Shoes by Depeche Mode
  4. Has he ever made much reference to any of these songs via snippets over the years? Not many are immediately springing to mind. Interesting

    Good point.
  6. Personally, I'm psyched that Bono picked a Massive Attack song, and no other than Safe from harm! Blue Lines is such a great album. I'd pick Unfinished Sympathy from that album, but this is a classic too.

Neon Lights was snippeted in the first Rotterdam Popmart show.
  8. I'm surprised of seeing Smells Like Teen Spirit. Not for the song itself, but I remember him being critical with Nirvana on "U2 at the end of the world". Rescue by Echo and The Bunnymen is another interesting pick. Ian McCulloch will be glad to see that one of his songs saved/changed Bono's life.

That was the one that stood out to me from the letters he wrote.

Agreed, it's a beautiful gesture and an amazing list tbh. A rough estimate tells me 50% are old songs (#) and 50% are new, which is really interesting. I would have thought Bono would have a much more classic taste than Edge!

    (#) : I consider "old" everything pre-2000
  11. Because of Bono's list I finally listened to Billy Eilish to see what all the fuzz is about...
