1. I thought this deserved it's own thread as the idea of an AB/ZOO TV anniversary tour is often discussed here but in multiple threads so things get lost. Hopefully everything will now be talked about in here so we can keep track of everything. If there is already a thread dedicated to AB/ZOO TV30 (which when I looked there wasn't, I could only find one on someones Thesis) then feel free to move this post there.

Anyway, for those of you on social media such as Facebook and Twitter you might have seen a few things over the past couple of days or so that a ZOO TV Anniversary tour is pretty much confirmed. They have even gone as far as announcing the cities that the band will be playing in.

First of all, I just want to make it very clear that I do not believe any of these rumours. I personally only believe news or rumours that come from U2Songs and I would suggest you do the same. I very much believe that these rumours are fan made in excitement and hope - and therefore are fake with no reputable sources. It very much seems like one guys excitement has gotten out of hand.

However, seeing how there's some downtime from the band themselves and with U2 news in general, I see no harm in sharing these rumours. Just take them with a very big pinch of salt. I personally believe that they'll live stream an AB celebration show in November with a limited social distanced crowed in attendance. Once again, that is just my own personal opinion and no reputable sources have reported on it.

Now, most of these AB/ZOO TV anniversary tour rumours come from the "We dream of a U2 ZOOTVreloaded 2023" Facebook group. A lot of people on social media seems to be taking these rumours very seriously, and genuinely believe a tour will be happening based on this information.

The page is reporting that there will be 100 indoor shows in 10 cities. These cities are: Melbourne, New York City, Las Vegas, Toronto, Mexico City, Berlin, Milano or Rome, Paris, London and Dublin.

They report that the band are finishing 8 new songs and will be releasing an EP or a new album in order to promote this anniversary tour. The band will include a large ZOO TV block in the setlist to celebrate the anniversary. They also propose that this will be the bands last tour (how many times have we heard that before?).

They also go on to talk about how the band are excited to revisit the ZOO TV idea, how specific websites will be used to promote the tour and even discuss U2.coms ticketing priority.

To conclude, even though the owner of the page states to have reputable sources from LiveNation and the band, I think it's safe to say this is all utter shite. I don't believe it and I suggest that you don't to. But if like me you were scrolling through social media and saw that a large amount of people were getting excited due to a "confirmed" ZOO TV anniversary tour, well at least you know where it came from.

Once again, unless it comes from U2Songs (or even better the band themselves!), don't believe what you hear, don't believe what you see!
  2. Likewise I take these rumours with a pinch of salt. If it wasn’t for COVID I think the tour would have happened but I don’t see it now. I would still love it to happen but I think the band’s next tour now will be in 2023 and it will be to promote a new album released either late 2022 or early 2023. As for AB I think the best we can hope for is a one off live stream or a boxset release but that’s it.
  3. 10 nights in each city? Don't think this is happening. Global situation would suggest any sort of world tour is off the cards until 2023.

Think best we would get, is a one off show, maybe two next year. Didn't the guy down at Slane say recently he wants two big bands to play a show there next year? Think more chance of that than 100 shows for AB30.
  4. Well they are not getting any younger. I don't see them waiting for 2023. 2022 summer the latest
  5. I for one believe.

1 ) AB deserves the same recognition as JT.
    2) Zoo TV themes are far more relevant than JT tour
    3) the more time passes without new U2 music, the better the odds for AB30. Livenation will want their cash cows on the road...They did Acrobat and Macphisto came back in 2018. Let Willie Williams go to town with the stage design.
    4) vaccines , herd immunity. 2022 will be the year tours resume IMO
    5) tests, masks, distancing...no one is saying full capacity needs to happen. In fact...

  6. I can see them doing residencies for sure to save them from travelling from city to city, which must exhaust them these days. I think with the current management they have it's going to happen in some capacity, it's just a case of when and where.

Personally, I don't want it to happen. I said the same about JT30. I'm not going to open up a can of worms, though.
  7. The days of 100 show tours by U2 are over. If anyone believes the band would have enough drawing power to warrant booking 10 shows per city in 10 cities... I have a bridge to sell you.
  8. Vegas residency?

Even though I don’t believe the rumours they were suggesting indoor shows. From the locations mentioned I think 10 shows per city is realistic.
  11. I don’t believe a word of it but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened.
  12. These farewell tours are neverending. The Who were meant to have one, KISS have been going on for ages. It's just a tour to see who is first to go six feet under.

If it's essentially a renaissance tour then they won't want it going on for two years. See JT Tour. They don't like these milk-the-cow-dry tours anyway.
