We have a new You Too poll, you can vote for this new poll on the frontpage and discuss it in this thread.
The question of this new You Too is:
You Too: When would you still consider U2 to be U2?
- As long as Bono is in the band
- As long as Bono and Edge are in the band
- As long as 3 out of 4 original band members are in
- Only when all 4 original band members are in
- I’ll see any four people using the name U2
I guess if 3/4 members are performing U2 songs, I guess that works for me (although I'd rather Larry be there) as I'm considering going to Vegas. We'll see ($$$$).
I still thought of REM as "REM" when Bill Berry left and Pearl Jam has always been "Pearl Jam" to me despite their revolving door of drummers back in the 1990's.
I still thought of Van Halen as "Van Halen" when Michael Anthony was replaced - but struggled earlier on with David Lee Roth being replaced by Sammy Hagar or the Extreme guy.
The whole Alice In Chains or Stone Temple Pilots new lead singer irks me a bit but I could live with GNR only having Axl or Smashing Pumpkins only having Billy Corgan for a time - but didn't really like it.
We love our guys (U2) but what's happening isn't really anything new.
Who on earth voted for the last option (2%)
I always used to think they could manage as long as Edge and Bono stayed with them, but obviously we love the rhythm section just as much.
I couldn't listen to them with a different singer though.
