1. Well the press release made a big deal out of her having the first play of the track, before it would be released anywhere else.

The YouTube stream popped up on U2's account a few minutes into her play. The promotion sent by Universal Music to other DJs/stations went out at 7:34pm, just a few minutes after she started playing.

    Press release:
"‘Your Song Saved My Life’, the first new music from the band since 2019, is taken from the Sing 2 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, set for release by Illumination, Universal Pictures and Republic Records on Friday, December 17, 2021. The track was previewed on the band’s official TikTok channel yesterday ahead of a first official play by BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley this evening.

The soundtrack accompanies Sing 2, the sequel to Illumination’s much-loved Sing (2016), which opens in cinemas on 22 December and will see Bono make his animated film debut as the voice of Clay Calloway.

The band have contributed to numerous movie soundtracks over the years and have been nominated twice in the Best Original Song category at the Academy Awards for ‘The Hands That Built America’ (Gangs of New York, 2003) and ‘Ordinary Love’ (Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, 2014)."

  4. The Edge mentions, 'The Associates' as an inspiration for Gloria in the latest edition of Guitar World. Anyone ever heard of them?
  5. 80s UK alternative / indie band with an amazingly-falsettoed singer. Biggest UK hit Party Fears Too. Def worth a check - happy listening!

  8. Yeah, here's a video of Bono talking about the band's lead singer Billy Mackenzie:
