The question of this new You Too is:

What are your thoughts on Wide Awake In Europe?

    - It's one of U2's best releases, I would travel half the world to get it
    - I think it's a great collectors item, would love to have one
    - It's yet another commercial release, I am not interested
    - A release with only three songs, not even great ones? Pointless release
    - Only time will tell what this release will mean to U2

Your vote is valued! Thank you!
  2. Four songs? What have I missed???

I actually don't care about it. Nice to have an official Mercy recording but this means 0 to me. I wouldn't pay more than its actual store price for it.
  3. Moment of Surrender is gold on this one. Mercy is nice, Crazy was released before. Anyway, good performances of all 3 songs. I ordered the EP twice, they didnt deliver. So i have to do it without. Not plan to pay a fortune, especially because it only contains 3 tracks.
  4. Nice physical release. Do not like any of the content though.
  5. I think it's a great collector's item and would love to have one...
I also like the songs on it, but don't understand the point of the same Crazy version.
  6. 3 great songs, pointless release.
  7. I'm happy to own one of them, nice physical release (great cover) Mercy and MoS are good performances, Crazy shouldnt be on it.
  8. Being for Record Store Day, it wasn't meant to be some awesome record - just a little (hard to find) momento if nothing more.

    What I like:

    - Good to have an official 'live' release of Mercy even if it is in a studio.
    - The cover is interesting if a little bland and uninspired.
    - The idea of a 'number' - just a little nod to the idea behind it.
    - That it only comes on vinyl, showing a big band like U2 still care about the format.

    What I don't like:
    - The title is lazy. It reminds me of the 7 EP to the Three EP, that sort of style. At least it matches the content this time.
    - The annoying 'from control, control' overdub in MoS. That annoys me every time.
    - The second time this version of Crazy Tonight has been released. Fast Cars remix, anyone?
    - Expensive and hard enough to get one, let alone two.

you took the words right out of my mouth dieder!
  10. I think its cool, but I also don't think it's spectacular. I'm proud and glad that I have one, just because of all the hype surrounding it, and how much I thought I WASN'T going to get one.

It does irk me about the numbers running higher than 5000, though. No matter what excuse is currently being offered.
  11. received my 3 copies today !!!
one for me, one for my mate and one spare ....
as I have almost all vinyl releases "double" ....

no dollar signs present during the ordering, but the need for an ep that contains 2 songs that I witnessed and a title that I personally like very very much ....

I ordered my copies trough vvinyl long time ago ....
never thought to receive three copies .... was gonna be happy with one, especially as all other sources I tried were out of stock or did not even get one single copy for their store ...
it took very long for the records to be shipped, so I asked them what the status update was as I still had to pay for my shipping costs .... at the day of the sale, they did not have any costs available for that ... when they replied, they said they were busy with the single and double copy orders first, then they would get to the orders that ordered more .... say what ?

I really wonder how this one place can get so many copies .... ?
not that I am complaining, after all all I did keep myself up to date with any rumours of this release, and was one of the first to order as soon as it was available online .... even ordered before the official announcement, surely many more did ..... thinking what the heck ... I need to have one !!!
this place was actually the first where you could actually pre-order the record ... If I am correct

    nr 1342 and 1348 and 5784

bad thing ----- 2 out of 3 sleeves are damaged ....... there is small cuts in the spines .... both records at the same place ..... I think it comes when they drop the records in the sleeves, this was done too brutal for the thickness of the cardboard that was used for teh sleeve (not very thick ..) ... resulting in a cut-or slice in the spine ... straight trough the small print that you can see on the spine ....
one copy is all ok ... one has small cut 1cm, but visible ... and other one has 3cm slice ....
dont get me wrong ..... I did not buy them to sell them for mega bucks .. so its all ok but IT DOES make me wonder .... they say they damage sleeves with the numbering .... but this goes "unnoticed" ???

still need to hear the thing itself .... wondering about what and how with mercy dubs etc ....
why cant they simply let go and surrender and produce the tracks as they were played ... so what if it only serves as a steppingstone for later edits of versions ..... I wish they had released the earlier version of mercy also .... instead of instead .......

and the label design is very very ugly !!!
no colours, or hints or effects --- no sign of the claw ...
I do like the sleeve front and back .... and also the title means a lot to me ....
me is a happy chappy and about to hit the wheels of steel ....
