1. Hi friends!
U2's live shows are thousands and thousands. But which of them has had the largest audience?
And it'd be interesting to know also the tour with the largest medium audience.
Among us, here in U2START, there is a lot of U2 experts who could contribute to answer these questions.
I myself am going to surf the Net to answer right now!!!
  2. I think it was the Reggio Emilia Popmart Show. 150.000 Italians went to this one!!!
  3. Hi, i think it's "Slane Castle 2001". Both Shows(25.08 / 01.09.) together
with a total of 157.418 People!!!!!!!
  4. I think Coen is right with the largest audience for one Show!

You've anticipated me of just a few minutes in writing this piece of news! Thank you!
Yes, I'm just reading on http://www.prnewswire.co.uk/cgi/news/release?id=29052 that on that occasion they break the world record of the Rolling Stones. That show was on the 20th of September 1997, I think...
But did they break again that record between 1997 and today? I suppose yes.... But I don't know at all!
  6. U2 currently still holds the world record of the largest paying audience on a single show without support with the 150.000 people in Reggio Emilia. There are a lot of other concerts and festivals out there with a higher attendance but this was always for multiple acts or just for free.

unfortunately, guinness book of records recognized a-ha's performance in the 1991-01-26 as "biggest paying audience."
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_in_Rio

however, it was also part of the rock in rio II festival, in which tickets were sold w/ foreknowledge of all the non-headliners for that one day. so it's misleading to say that 195.000 paid to see a-ha

so by our standards (paying and no supporting act) U2 are still on top!
  9. I was in Reggio Emilia: my first U2 show I'm dissapointed but the record it's now in the hands of Luciano Ligabue, an italian rocker, that without support acts sold 200.000 tickets for a concert in the same site where U2 played in 1997, which is a big park used as a civil airport in the past.
