    Comments:
The connection between U2 and Boston has lasted for over 30 years and this show is a good proof of it. They first played that city in 1980 as a support, then two sellouts at a 500 people venue in early 1981, then a show at this same venue in late 1981, and finally 2 sellouts at the Orpheum Theater in May 1983 just before moving on to arenas. This two concerts are awesome, and the 2nd one (the one we bring you as BOTM) is broadcast on WBCN, the radio station that first gave U2 airplay on the US. The show itself is a gem, with the setlist being drastically changed (opening with Out Of Control instead of Gloria, An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart coming back after 6 months, Tomorrow is gone, etc), the audience on fire and a band at the top of their game back then. Less than one month later came Red Rocks and well, the rest is history.

    Enjoy!
  2. A stunner.
  3. About time a show of the month is picked. Wasn't the last one, like, two months ago?

Anyways, this show sounds awesome and pretty significant considering it's the one right before the historic, defining show of U2s career but it's no less awesome.

I'll be sure to download it when I get the chance and even review it.

Yes, last month we didn't have a show of the month for obvious reasons.

It was a good month before Red Rocks but definitely the turning point in the War Tour. Red Rocks has got almost the same setlist as this one - and very similar performances. In fact, the 11 O'Clock Tick Tock from this Boston show ended up being in the UABRS album (and not the one from Red Rocks as most think).

  5. I don't quite recall what are those obvious reasons.
  6. This is one of my all time favorite U2 shows, ever since I first heard it on the King Biscuit Flour Hour radio show about 25 years ago. A must have.
