Really reminds me of "Mothers" ending The Joshua Tree in terms of feel and sound. I especally love how revealing yet brave the lyrics at the end are:
"God know it's not easy
Taking on the shape of someone else's pain
God now you can see me
I'm naked and I'm not afraid
My body's scared and I'm not ashamed"
Plus Bono's vocal that cracks a bit gives this power and resonance. It's surly not among U2's best album closers, but it's powerful enough to end this album in a "Mothers", "Love Is Blindness" like feel.
"Celebrities are supposed to be somebody special, and filmstars, rockstars. We're supposed to be heroes, but we are not heroes. We are very selfish people who enjoy what we do."
- Bono in South Bend, 2001

The song 'So Cruel' has been rumoured to be a sort of thing where it would be The Edge singing this to Aislinn, who were divorcing around the time the song was written.
