1. sbs - my fav u2 song overall
  2. hmm...I never saw NYD as a political song actually...'I will be with you again', seems a love song to me
  3. SBS all the way, a signature U2 song, an instant classic, and one of the best protest songs ever.

Please comes second, the album version is too low key, it needed to be played live to realise its potential. Unlike SBS where the album version works fine.

Also the lyrics on SBS are more earnest, less preachy than Please.
  4. "I will be with you again" is indeed a love statement, but I always took it as a love-broken-by-politics (by the Berlin Wall, for example) one... And no doubt the "All is quiet", "crowd gathered in b&w", "the chosen few", etc sentences are very very political.

    it's about Solidarność:M

  6. I see it as both a love song and a political song.

It was written about the civil unrest happening in Poland at the time. Coincidentally after the song was recorded Poland announced that it would abolish marshal law on New Year's Day in 1983.

    The love aspect is obvious.

and the extra line on the original, the golden age, and gold is the reason for the wars we wage... etc
    It's a beautiful song.
I voted for Please...and Aussie...are you testing us?! You must be out of your mind...

Sorry for any offence. I skip it at every opportunity but I will be less forthright in my views next time for fear of being hunted down and forced to listen to The Beach Sequence from Passengers 50 times as torture

  9. Bullet. Its an ass-kicking, take no prisoners, boderline metal, no-holds-barred masterpeice.
