1. Spain deserved their victory, you just don't win against team that is so good and disciplined.

On the other side, I was hoping that Italy would win because Spain game was very boring earlier in the championship. Balotetli didn't show anything yesterday, Pirlo also.

    Tiredness? I don't buy that.

Overall, this was just a very good Euro. When it started, every match was fantastic and then after groups most of the matches were boring, IMO.
  2. I don't buy the tiredness argument either. These people are athletes and they should not be tired after 30, 60 or even 90 minutes. They don't even run all the time; many of them just do light footing around a zone for a long time, and some even just stand still (Ballotelli yesterday, for example) until the ball comes around. I don't want to be misunderstood so I'll state my absolute respect for them, but I don't think they are "allowed" to be tired after half time of a match. Tired after a triathlon? Right. Tired after a 42kms marathon? Right. Tired after 40 minutes of football? Definitey not right.

I don't think it's been a "very good" championship. I expected more great games, specially the ones concerning Holland and Spain. Germany has been good but not amazing either, and England has largely disappointed me (as usual, though). It's been a good 3 weeks but not the best possible.
  3. It wasnt a very good tournament, like Yogi says the group stage was pretty good but after the group stage I didnt see that many great games, only the Italy ones were fun.

The most dissapointed teams were Spain and Germany for me, since I already expected Holland to fail, Germany played some good football against Greece but the other matches werent that good imo. And Spain, I said it before I know, just makes me bored altough they played great yesterday.

And how the hell could the UEFA make Iniesta man of the tournament? Are they blind or something?

For me it's been a good tournament. Yes some teams did disappoint, with the Netherlands disappointing by far the most..
Still there were good teams. For me, since they haven't played well for years, going through to the qf was good for England. They scored some great goals, with Welbeck's probably being the best of the tournament. Portugal played some good matches, with Ronaldo finally leading them. And Italy was very surprising, although Spain was much better yesterday. The player who impressed me the most was De Rossi, hopefully he'll stay with Roma for a long time, so he can be the new leader once Totti retires..
  5. Yes, De Rossi has been one of the best players of the tournament. Probably even better than Iniesta. But hey, Bart, MVPs are rarely -if ever- awarded to losers

They awarded it in 2010 to Forlan.. Still Iniesta was probably the best player of Spain, so he deserved to win. But others also made a great impression, among them Pirlo and de Rossi..
  7. Pirlo has been consistently great for the last 3298472934 years, it wasn't that much of a surprise. But I expected De Rossi to be a bit more hit-and-miss, maybe like Cassano
  8. before this topic comes to an end eventually, I want you to read this.
Maybe some of you have heard or read about it, during the tournament an Irish football fan went missing and after a desperate search was finally found drowned in a river.

it was closely covered and followed in Ireland, and this is the final chapter of it. we all remember the Irish fans' singing during the tournament -- now this adds another if sad level to the tight community that is Ireland.

there was a picture in the printed edition that isn't shown on the website. it showed a card from one of the Irish players, Keith was his first name, and the wreath said: "We will have you in our thoughts every time we play for Ireland." Goosebumps.
