1. Stripped back vibe? I don't know if you're already listening to Songs Of Experience instead of the album that's been released today

Compared to the wall of sounds on NLOTH, Magnificent and Unknown Caller it's a step down. But not THAT big of a step down haha.
  3. II'm on my second full listen to the album...

Every Breaking Wave's chorus is what makes it so different to the version we knew, and it's what I still don't like much (specially the "and stop chaaaassiiiing" verse). But I adore the rest of it. And the almost-rapped part of "The sea knows where are the rocks, and drowning is no sin..." is brilliant.
  4. It's incredible that just this morning I was listening to EBW 360 Vienna and now I have a different (and better) version in the new album, for free, in just a few hours after!

  6. I'm so glad they included this song! I loved the lyrics on 360 - and the part I didn't like before, the drowning is no sin, is done very well on this version!
  7. I only listened to the 360 version once myself but kind of forgot about it. This song is great though! Only on my 7th song so far but this has been far and away my favorite!
  8. I was happy to see this one on the album as well! Loved that it felt so familiar but also feels new!
  9. Every Breaking Wave should have been a hit a long time ago!
  10. My thoughts after a few more listens.

We've known about this song for quite some time and I'm sure everyone has spent sleepless nights thinking about how this song would evolve if it were to be released on a proper album, but this rendition exceeded my expectations. A lot of people said that this song sounded a bit "plain" and I think people are saying that because internally they thought this song would be much more flashy.

However, there is an art and a beauty that accompanies simplicity and I think this song portrays those aspects very nicely. I'm a big fan of the chorus, I personally thought it was a natural progression from what they had before. Regardless, I'm glad to see this finished. Now what about North Star...

    8.5/10
  11. U2 by numbers. Cool to hear it in its infancy at the tail end if the last tour then hearing it mature into this. It doesn't do much for me though.
  12. I love how this song has evolved. I never imagined this outcome.

U2 - Every breaking wave live (360º Tour)

Rejoice - Every breaking wave (U2 cover)

U2 - Every breaking wave (Songs of Innocence)
