but yeah, I totally get why you'd buy it. I totally get why anyone'd buy it. I just wouldn't.
What if it was from your hometown ? I mean say Madrid, Lisbon, Berlin, Belfast... There will still be fans that buy it wherever it was filmed. It's actually a very conceptual show with a very choreographed performance, I hope you get to a show if you haven't.

You were bored. I saw both and enjoyed both thoroughly and think Experience is a completely different vibe from Innocence. It is all about perspective I guess.

I think we will still get some type of Blu Ray from JT 2017. When that will be is the question. A lot of the older stuff people want released just are not going to happen unless there is some type of anniversary edition of something (IE Lovetown Pro shot official is not happening, at least anytime soon if ever). They would have released the older stuff already if they had wanted to.
I mean, I think the albums do that just fine, but this show was like Innocence 1.5, Experience .5. They didn't even play Little Things, the song that arguably defines the "Experience" aspect by itself. I mean, what the hell? I'm glad you enjoyed both shows, and of course it comes down to perspective and opinion, but you can't deny that a lot of the show was the same as the show two years ago...

I'm fine with them retreading some ground for the sake of the concept and for the sake of anyone who didn't see the Innocence show (but you could say that for literally any tour...I didn't get to see ZooTV, where's my mini ZooTV set?) - but they didn't ADD enough from the Experience perspective. It was basically the opening three songs and that was it, as far as the conceptual stuff goes. They didn't even really add any cool performance stuff like they did with Cedarwood Road, Iris, Sunday Bloody Sunday, etc. Hell, I was DAMN sure they'd break out Volcano to do a 2-parter with American Soul and make THAT into a conceptual thing, but nah, they just performed it like it was any other tune.

I'd be very happy with a DVD from the JT 2017 tour, and I know they'll never do those older shows unless it's some kind of anniversary/sub gift, and it makes me sad
  3. From the innocence perspective they've played 4 of the same songs from 2015, iris, Cedarwood, sbs and uteotw. I know they did sfs and wolves but they've been dropped.

They do bd, I will follow, pride, vertigo, elevation and one which are the hits and are used every tour (maybe could put COBL into this category).

They then perform 8 new songs along with rarities such as acrobat and songs that haven't been done in a while (SATS)

Seeing how it's the eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE tour I have no problem with them playing 4 songs from i+E. Plus the hits that's 12/24 songs. I get people's points that it's 50% of the setlist which we've effectively seen in 2015 already but isn't that the same case for previous tours? The same hits to be played plus the Joshua Tree hits would mean more than 50 percent of the setlist we've seen before?
  4. Honest question: how many here are going to buy the DVD of this tour and watch it (not just rip the audio) more than once?
  5. Does anyone watch these things regularly?
I have only seen ZooTV and Under a Blood Red Sky once or twice. They do look nice on the shelf lol
  6. Probably twice max.

It probably makes my 2015 tour dvd useless too!
  7. I will, I’ll probably watch it 2 or 3 times the first week I get it then maybe half a dozen times over the course of a year. I’m also excited though about the audio rip for what will basically give us pro quality audio of all the new songs plus acrobat.

The audio rip is the best part. It has way more utility than the Blu Ray itself. I will probably watch the Blu Ray all the way through, once, maybe twice. But the audio will see continual use in my car for my commute and road trips!

Although some of Sharebear/Hoserama's matrixes and a few other taper releases can sometimes be as listenable as the official at times. So if they choose to release something of that kind of quality I will be just as happy with that.
  9. They should release MORE audio only live compilations. For a band that is great live, there's so few 'official' live audio/CD releases
  10. Being that I only watched the Paris one once, I don't think I'd buy this one and therefore....I'd never watch it.

Wow, as a U2 fan I feel incredibly odd saying that.

It's not that simple to me, though. The songs they play from SoI are arguably BIG parts of the show, because they use the screen and stage setup more than any of the Experience songs, at least the degree they do. Most of the SoE songs are just performed as any of their hits are, but with even less fanfare because they don't have "hit power" behind them. And while yeah, songs get replayed tour after tour, I think it's because there've been two OTHER tours very recently that makes this incredibly boring at this point. I was bored the second time I heard Elevation live, you know? You can imagine how I feel about it on my 10th U2 show, especially having been to four Innocence shows, a Joshua show, and now this show. U2 aren't providing enough variety on this tour to warrant the tour at all, IMO. I would've rather them do a Joshua Tree 2017 style show and JUST play SoE lol. That, or they should've done something completely different. I keep saying I'd love a tour based on that BBC production (string section, choir, etc.) - IMO they should've done that for this tour. A theatre tour with an extended band. If only for the reason that there's barely anything new in this show, not even the stage setup. At least between 360 and SOI and JT, hearing the same songs over and over it's a different production. Seeing this tour felt like watching a rerun.

I think maybe I, personally made a mistake getting a ticket to this show. I went dark to avoid spoilers, but perhaps that was the wrong move. I'm not sure I would've paid the money I did to see it had I known how much of it was the same. I remember when U2 began talking about this tour they said that it would use the same stage. I thought at the time "okay, they must be changing a LOT though so it's not the same show."................................................................................................lol
  11. I guess this is like beating a dead horse. But I think the Innocence tour and Experience tour are A LOT different. The only part that was the same to me was obviously the SOI songs Cedarwood and Iris. The problem I had with the show was this section. Cedarwood to SBS and this version of SBS doesn't work. Been there, done that and it kind of bored me. UTEOTW seemed more fresh on Experience to me so I'm not lumping that in there. Otherwise completely different vibe. Even Pride linked to GOOYOW and American Soul worked for me. No Joshua Tree was also a bold move. (although I think they should end with Streets)

I guess I went in differently. I wasn't planning to see this tour and at the last moment was able to and I enjoyed it thoroughly. No, I wont be watching this Blu Ray every night. Probably once or twice just like the rest. But I will be enjoying the audio for awhile. I guess it is not worth getting depressed or down about. It's all about perspective. I thought U2 laid a huge egg with the No Line album and didn't think the first leg of the 360 tour was the greatest as a result (opening with Breathe did not work). But others think it was their best tour or one of the best. I have never watched that Blu Ray all the way through. THAT was a butcher job to me.
