almost half is maybe a bit exaggerated, but there are just too many average songs. The 2nd part is great though. American Soul, Showman and Lights of Home are U2 (album) unworthy in my opinion, although not unlistenable. Get Out Of Your Own Way is just too much of a Beautiful Day rip off, I like the song, but all songs on SOI are better/more original. Summer of Love does have a nice riff, but in the sequence of average songs it doesn't stand out. Acoustically live it sounds great though. Anyway, for me those average songs ruin the album a bit.

You dislike Lights of Home? That is maybe my first or second favorite track on the album.

did not say that, I just think it's average (not good enough for a U2 album). And with Bono refusing to explain what happened makes it even harder to listen to. I understand he doesn't want to talk about it in public, but why sing about it? One of Bono's weakest moments/decisions.

Best thing
American soul
Blackout
Showman
Average U2 songs, altough the live versions of American soul and Blackout are saving the songs.
