    Good
  3. UPDATE:

I have added various flacs and mp3s to the 2001-05-16 Chicago IL, United Center (4th night) show page / audio tab.

The show has a quite unique Elevation set, starting with five Achtung Baby songs following the familiar opening tune.
Beautiful Day was saved for the encore. Especially noteworthy is this show's Sweetest Thing. Bono starts the song
with some improving, and then just everything seems to fall in place for this song.
Personally I am not the biggest Sweetest Thing lover; not the original B-side version, nor the 1990 remix. But in this
show, however, they made it really catchy (perhaps the best live version of ST ever?)

Anyway, this show is also very interesting because it has a very nice iem-aud matrix done by dreamoutloud.
It was released as a CD-R by Poppy Productions. Not sure if this bootleg was actually sold at the time, but the artwork
is slick enough to suggest this. They did a great job though with the sound. The typical iem "extras" like metronome
and tech-count are comfortably removed, or buried by the audience source (recorded by F.W., aka J.W.).
A critical ear will be hearing phase issues at various points, but I don't think it's all to annoying...

Next to the matrix, the original IEM and F.W.'s audience source are also available for download in both flac and mp3.

    Happy weekend everyone

One of the best Elevation Tour bootlegs out there. People, go check it out!
  5. I literally was not aware of the existence of this show. Download is currently running, BIG thanks!
  6. The 2500th bootleg added to the U2Start database...

#taken from: U2 LIVE: A Concert Documentary by Pimm Jal De La Parra (2003:220)

Find the DAT audience recording by Michael Dann here: https://www.u2start.com/shows/1155/#!audio

  7. UPDATE:

I've added a fresh audio transfer of the 2006-03-02 - Buenos Aires - Riverplate Stadium (2nd night) TV Broadcast to its show page / audio tab.

It's an amazing high-energy Vertigo show, but when I played the "old" mp3's, I was really annoyed by the little skips (mini-gaps) between the tracks. Furthermore, as the audio of this TV Broadcast (without any DJ - or VJ - talk!) is 48kHz AAC (lossy), there is no need to have this even further downsampled to 44,1kHz for the mp3's...

The new (2019 transfer) mp3's are all 16/48kHz and neatly cut on sector boundaries, so there should be no skipping between the tracks.
No additional remastering was done; I merely raised the overall volume to -0.1 dB.

    Enjoy

  9. UPDATE (vintage audience recordings):

Just before I made continuation with updating the Joshua Tree Tour (1987) database, I added the 1stGEN copy of
the 1981-11-15 New Haven CT - Toad's Place gig.

Up until today U2Start only had a 2ndGEN transfer available with "11 O'clock" cut and "I Will Follow [encore]" missing
next to the first two songs. But while this is a very good excellent audience recording (although the first two songs
are still missing*...) and a pleasure to listen to, the main update here was to combine source info from various U2 "bootleg"
    resource pages.

The good old AchtungBootlegs has taper initials and recording equipment listed, while U2Kristall.de had identified
the recording transferrer. U2Kristall also had this recording/bootleg tagged with the title "Sellout In New Haven" and artwork of
this was then found at U2Gigs.

My long time hero the late great Pimm Jal de la Parra noted of this show:

At the end of […] 11 O'Clock, Bono throws his microphone at Larry and is said to have charged at Larry's drum kit,
angry as he was with Larry missing a cue or beat. U2 leave the stage frustrated right after, dropping the closing
The Ocean but return play I Will Follow one more time.
    Source: A Concert Documentary (2003: 270).

    Cheers!

*Pretty sure "A Day Without Me" was not played after ITABTAW since there is no indication that the recording was spliced at this point.

I wonder where the A Day Without Me info comes from then U2gigs lists it as the first time it was paired with I Threw A Brick, but it doesn't appear in any of the old bootleg covers... Did someone make it up or what? It's quite puzzling to think they'd try the ADWM/ITABTAW combo in New Haven for the first time, then forget about it for two weeks and then start playing it again in San Francisco (and most dates onwards). IMO it's more logical to assume that this instance of A Day Without Me was made up by someone and didn't take place - and this new recording/transfer seems to confirm this.
