#OTD in 1998, @U2 played the only arena show of the entire PopMart tour at the "Burswood Dome" (capacity 20k) in Perth, Australia. The huge screen & stage fit fine, but the giant toothpick & olive missed its only show. @u2gigs @U2_australia pic.twitter.com/1SZRqEvL0J

Think they are classing the Perth venue as an arena and not a stadium (the only arena show). Tokyo Dome is indoor too but think they class that as a stadium.

That tour really affected the band the half empty stadiums in the US the sub par performances particularly the first couple of months and reactions to the Pop album made the band retreat back into it's safe zone it was the first time the press really went all out attack on them (R&H wasn't as vindictive),people now look back at POP and Popmart with a lot of positive memories but at the time the band looked unsure about what they were trying to portray or say treading on territory that a lot of people felt they shouldn't, with Achtung Baby and Zoo TV they looked in control and focused on what they were doing and believed in what they were presenting to their audience but Popmart felt like a runaway train that they never really could stop going off the rails
