1. Thanks for the review. Looking forward to Saturday and I have made my peace with the setlist which is a bit disappointing.

But im more looking forward to seeing Matt at 100 Club on monday for the Jaded hearts club gig on monday. Tiny venue (300 people) and im convonced Paul McCartney will turn up but noboday believes me!

  2. I hope you'll be amazed by Tool next week

Wow, having Macca turning up in that party would be incredible. Best of luck! Tickets must have gone real quick for that.

I'm adding nothing new to what's been said before, but I'll say it anyway: too much focus on the scenic part of the show, too few on the musical aspects. Matt plays guitar/piano less and less, each time there's more songs in which he only sings for most/all of the time; I'm ok with that (U2 fan, right?), but part of the absolute devotion that I feel (or felt) for him is that he was a GREAT piano+guitar player besides a good singer. Also he was a bit hoarse, as if he had just overcome a flu or a cold - not his fault, but something that undoubtedly affected the show in a very negative way. Other than that, the song choices are predictable and there are no rarities or hardcore-oriented songs whatsoever, it's absolutely a "new album + greatest hits" kind of gig.

Interesting thoughts Regarding Matt's voice, was it his falsetto that sounded hoarse or just his voice in general? He started his vocal decline in 2015 and the long Drones tour really took a toll on him. At each gig I've been to from 2015 onwards I've noticed his falsetto has been very rough/scratchy, which is a shame to see. You can see it in the current shows too, lots of breaks for him to catch a breather. His vocal peak was undoubtedly 2012/13 but it's not his fault, age happens to us all.

Regarding the set, Manchester will be gig number 21 for me. I accepted after witnessing Shepherd's Bush in 2017 there was no way I'll ever see a set as strong, I can accept that this will be Simulation Theory and the hits, at least Take A Bow is still knocking around though! It's perplexing that they're still playing Undisclosed Desires (which is almost always a snoozefest for the crowd) yet they've not played Blockades/The Void live yet and fan favourites like Bliss and MotP aren't played, they'd really fit the 'feel' of this tour as well.

Still excited of course, but I can totally see your criticisms.

Sometimes I felt like at Circus than rock show, but still worth it Yes - Take A Bow is great and my girlfriend likes Undisclosed Desires (even if her favourite album is Origins) - and it was played only once so far.
According to MOTP: They play The Dark Side which like MOTP part 2, so...

I'll upload the full recording today or tomorrow and you'll be able to judge for yourself. It was his voice in general, and of course the falsetto was the most affected part. He lacked power to do his long screams. I hadn't properly noticed it before but now that you mention it it's something recurrent. If he doesn't improve they'll have to quit playing many old songs where it's more noticeable.

The way you feel about Shepherd's Bush I feel about Belfast 2015. I'll never see Unnatural Selection, Fury, Uno, Agitated, Hyper Music and Animals ever again, let alone together in the same set, let alone with two live debuts, and let alone in a 2,000 people venue!! I have long accepted that I'll never see a gig like that ever again, but that doesn't detract me from enjoying -or trying to- the rest of the concerts. I'm sure I'll enjoy Madrid more than I did Prague, and I'm just crossing fingers that they add at least ONE DAMN SONG as an "end of leg" surprise!
  7. Oh, and good point: I forgot about Take A Bow - that was one of the absolute highlights (for me at least).

  8. I thought you're not big fan of Take A Bow...
I love it since it was released
  9. Had tickets for the Krakow tour but decided to sell them to fund Aus and NZ.

Just not feeling this tour based on the media released so far.
  10. Bliss in London
